Well, my twins made their big arrival Wednesday, November 7th at 10:43 and 10:44 am, at 32 weeks 1 day. I really wish I wasn't writing this so early, but here's their story.
I had a routine MFM appointment at 8am, to check their fluid levels and cord dopplers. Monday and Tuesday they were rather quiet but I assumed it was just a growth spurt and I knew my appointment was soon. We went in and immediately I knew something was wrong. Neither twin was moving around, Baby Bs cord Doppler wasn't consistant, I can't remember the term but their was breaks in the bottom wavelength where it shouldn't of had any at all. Baby A also had a LOT of fluid and showed extra fluid near his bladder, while Baby B had hardly any fluid at all. My Dr came in and explained his concerns, asked for whatever measurements she (the tech) could get on growth and weight and left. He came back maybe 5 minutes later and said everything is indicating early TTTS and he didn't feel comfortable with me leaving (his office is located in a different hospital than I planned on delivering in and where my OB didn't have patient rights.) so he admitted me into L&D and told us they were coming within an hour. He found an OB for me, got my records, and came down and explained why it was all happening so fast. Looking back, he was/is such a phenomenal Dr and we were/are so blessed to have had him looking over us.
Poor DH was in such shock, but handled everything so well. They prepped me for an emergency c-section, there wasn't time to wait and B was breech. The c-section wasn't bad, everything truly happened so fast I didn't really have time to worry/freak out. Baby A, Hayden Erik, was born at 10:43 am weighing in at 4lbs 1 oz. He wasn't breathing and they took him immediately. Baby B, Liam Robert, was born at 10:44 am weighing 3 lbs 4 oz. He made a couple of noises and they showed us him before taking him away.
DH was able to meet them at around 330, and I wasn't able to until 6:30 when my nurse agreed to take me (after I had a breakdown in recovery - it was so hard hearing and seeing other moms with their babies) Hayden had really rough start, he went from the conventional vent & 100% oxygen to the ossicilating vent on 100% oxygen. It was so hard seeing him struggle and fight, he eventually had to be sedated. Thankfully he is back on the conventional vent now and down to 32% oxygen, he did have to be sedated again a little bit ago. He really doesn't like the vent, and being the donor is expected to have a harder time. Liam is doing fantastic and was only months CPAP, and is completely on his own today! They both are receiving 1mL donor milk feedings since my milk hasn't come in yet. I've been pumping every 2-3 hours so hopefully it comes in soon.
When I get to a computer I'll have to post pictures! Any T&P's for them would be greatly appreciated!
Re: My babies arrived!
My thoughts and prayers have been with you and your family the past 2 days from Alyssa's updates on our BMB board.
I'm so glad to hear that Liam is doing so well and Hayden is such a fighter! Also, I'm so glad your doctor made such an important call to allow for a safe delivery!
Can't wait to see pictures, I'm sure they are just precious!!
