Thanksgiving announcement???

Hi! I'm heather!! Just got my positive yesterday with baby 1!! I have my 1st appointment November 28.... Right after thanksgiving. Everyone knows we have been trying for a baby so I'm sure they will ALL figure it out when i don't reach for the sangria!!!! I've always said I'd wait until after hearing the heartbeat to announce, but with thanksgiving falling just before the appointment I may have to break my own rule!'
Any other July moms to be dealing with the same predicament ???? I could use some advice!!!

I'm in the same boat. We're going up to my sister's lake house for thanksgiving this year and they will know immediately when i'm not cooking with wine (drinking it) something is up. I'm going to try and fain illness until dinner. We do an around the table "what are you thankful for" before we eat and that's our plan as to when to announce. I am awful at keeping my mouth shut about exciting things, so this will be a long two weeks lol. I don't have my first appt until nov 19th but that's just to interview a midwife. I'm not sure when I'll hear the h/b... probably not until after thanksgiving So sorry I rambled!!!!

Congratulations Heather!

 Its so hard keeping it a secret from your family.  I am super close with my mom and so far I have kept it from her for a week.  I will be annoucing it on Thanksgiving as well.

I love the rambling.... Considering we are so limited as to who we can talk to for at least a few more weeks:
I was actually thinking the same thing for when we do our "I'm thankful for..." tradition. Or I was thinking that along with my side dishes I'd bring a bun for the oven... Or something along those lines!!! And that way I could get it over with right away!!
But I'm just hesitant bc we haven't heard her wishful thinking heart beat yet!

Although we want to tell at Thanksgiving, right now the plan is to wait until Christmas.  I will be 8.5 weeks and will just feel a little more comfortable by then.  Although it will be hard with my lack of drinking at Thanksgiving.  :  Looks like DH will be getting VERTY tipsy

First let me say CONGRATS!!!!! And we are planning on doing a Thanksgiving announcement too. This will be the first time in I don't know how many years my whole family from my mom's side will be together for Thanksgiving. We always stand together, hold hands and go around and say what we are thankful for. My plan is to stand with my DS inbetween me and my mom and have her start it and my DS finish it by saying he is thankful he is going to be a big brother. I might even set up the video camera.

I'm still undecided as to whether I'm going to fake sick or just tell!! My DH wants to wait.... We'll see I guess!!!

Congratulations and welcome!

We're in a funny situation with thanksgiving right now.  DH's parents are going to be coming and staying with us for the week.  We'll probably be having thanksgiving at MY parent's house.  Now, I don't want my parents knowing until Christmas time or at least further along because my mom would tell the whole world--- before we were ready for it to be public.  She cannot be trusted.

But we want to tell DH's parents in person, since we don't know when we'll see them again.  So, we'll have to wait until after seeing my parents.  We'll have several days with his parents to have to keep the secret.  But we figure, better us than them.  I know MIL would be uncomfortable having to keep the secret.  And... they're heavy drinkers.  LOL.

Congrats!! I got my BFP yesterday too!! I was planning to also reveal to the family on Thanksgiving. I need my MIL to babysit for my appointments so I have to tell her early lol! I am going to browse for a thankful shirt for either me or DD to wear. I wanted to wait until Christmas to announce to the rest of the world but I'm not sure I can contain myself that long!

If you don't want to tell, then just tell them you're doing a TTC body prep cleanse that doesn't allow alcohol. Besides, Christmas/Chanukah is a much better time to announce!

We are waiting until Christmas. 

 I would either make up an excuse as to why you aren't drinking or get a glass and then just secretly keeping pouring small amounts out so it looks like you are drinking

I'm not planning to announce so soon. Nobody will think it's odd that I'm not drinking, but I am a social smoker and I fully expect to be called out on it.

We are spending Thanksgiving with friends, so it'll be a little easier.   I am going to pretend to drink!  I won't be ready by then to let people know!

Ahh the inevitable question. When to announce. At this point only my cousin (and husband) know. I'm okay with withholding info from my parents for a little while but I'm not sure I can last until Christmas! I won't see my family over thanksgiving but was thinking about maybe announcing via Skype?? Or do you think that's completely impersonal? Help,,,

Congrats on the BFP!

DH and I are announcing at Thanksgiving. There is no way I could hold the secret any longer than that.  We have our first appointment in 6 days.  I wanted to make sure that I got that in before Thanksgiving so I knew it was healthy.

Yep. I'd orefer to wait until the ultrasound because of my miscarriage, but it will be too obvious if I'm not drinking, so we are going to announce on Thanksgiving.

Congrats! We are announcing to my husbands family on Thanksgiving. We are either going to have my father in law mention it at the end of saying grace or get the family together for a picture then someone who knows already say "1,2,3 everyone say Jenny's pregnant" then have all the pics of everyone's reactions
