How many ounces is our baby drinking per day?

How much formula or breast milk is your LO taking per day?

Lauren drinks around 2530oz a day still.

Re: How many ounces is our baby drinking per day?

  • Aria is taking in around 20-24 per day, with three meals of solids a day, plus one snack.

  • He gets 20 ounces of BM a day.

  • Allison is not cooperating...on a GOOD day we get her to 20 but mor likely it is around 12 - 16.

Her nine month appointment is next week so we will ask the doctor then but I remember her saying that formula shoudl be almost done by 12 months and WCM as a beverage only at 12 months - not for calories.

  • Lucia is drinking 18 - 20 oz formula per day.  And eating 3 solid meals.  I haven't added in snacks because if she eats between feedings she refuses the bottle.  We'll see when the doctor says we can start cutting down even lower.  I can't believe our Feb babies are getting so close to their 1 year birthdays!!

  • Anyone want to share a schedule of bottles and solids? I feel like her solids are more random and not really a meal, if that makes sense. Do you give them before or after a bottle? I should remember this from the first time around!

  • Hank takes four 5 ounce bottles of EBM throughout the day and then nurses once at night and once in the morning.  So, I would estimate that he too drinks around 30 ounces a day. He also has fruit and yogurt for breakfast, rice and vegetable for lunch, and then fruit, vegetable, and meat for dinner, about 2-4 ounces each meal.

I posted our schedule on Monday, I think ... let me see if I can find the post. I'm at work and I think everyone decided to come to SSA today, so I apologize if it takes me awhile!

DD drinks 20-28oz a day, usually. Our pedi said to aim for 24oz/day, so I worry when she drinks less than that.

When he wakes up he gets a bottle, then 2 hours later he gets breakfast, oatmeal with fruit, 2 hours later another bottle, 2 hours lunch (4 oz. of solids), 2 hours later another bottle, 2 more hours he gets dinner (4 oz. of solids) and then a bottle before bed. So basically he's eating every 2 hours. We are gradually taking him off of solids and giving him more table food.

Her nine month appointment is next week so we will ask the doctor then but I remember her saying that formula shoudl be almost done by 12 months and WCM as a beverage only at 12 months - not for calories.

WCM still has lots of fats and things that the babies need.  I was told to shoot for 24 ounces of formula for now but 18-20 ounces is fine (we're usually in the 18-21 ounce range) and that once they make the transition to WCM they need 3 servings of dairy a day, which can be 3 cups of WCM (24 ounces) or a mixture of WCM and things like cheese and yogurt.

Golden, this is our rough schedule:

6:45am - Snack (usually water and Cheerios) to hold them over

7:30am - Solids (they split 6-8 ounces of a fruit/grain mixture and a 4 ounce container of yogurt)

    8:30am - 6-7 ounce bottle

12:00pm - Solids (they split 8-10 ounces of fruits and veggie and another thing of yogurt)

    1:30pm - 6-7 ounce bottle

5:15pm - Solids (they split 8-10 ounces of protein and veggies and either another thing of yogurt or fruit)

    6:30pm - 6-7 ounce bottle

    7:00pm - Bed

They get snacks throughout the day but not at any set time.  We give them yogurt at each meal because they love it and we usually use it as bait to get them to finish the other stuff.  I would like to get them to start eating our food but they are so exhausted after daycare that we have just enough time to feed them solids, play for a few minutes, do baths, and give them bottles before they demand to go to bed.  I have no time to cook in there, so we eat when they go to sleep.

  • She is almost completely BF but from the occasional bottle of it she gets and feeding her 5 times a day I estimate 20-25oz tops.

  • We are pretty loosey-goosey on schedule, but here is pretty much what we do.  We tend to use bottles around sleep times (wake-up/naps/bedtime) and food in the in-betweens.

When he wakes up: Bottle (around 8:30)

About an hour later: Breakfast (around 9:30)

He generally naps 2-3 hours after wake-up (around 11 am), so we'll give him a bottle when he goes down though sometimes he doesn't want it until he wakes up.

Lunch is normally around 1-2 pm

    Snack around 4

Bottle with second nap around 5

    Dinner around 6:30-7ish

    Bottle for bedtime around 8:30/9

  • She takes 12 oz of ebm in bottles at daycare. Then we nurse at home. So I'm guessing around 20 oz.

This is Asher too. It's a struggle to get him to eat at daycare. The other days that I'm home with him, he nurses so I have no idea what he's getting but he nurses every 2-3 hours. He is also eating 3 meals a day, a combo of purees and table food.

Wow, my buddy is a pig. 28-30 ounces of formula per day, plus 3 meals and one snack. Lunch is probably 6 ounces. Dinner he has table food, and it seems like a ton of it. He's been super hungry for the past few days, though; I think he's gearing up for a growth spurt.

Ben did that a couple weeks ago!  He was downing bottles and eating like crazy.  Isn't your guy in the higher percentiles?  My guy is a peanut (25th % for H & W), so I figure that impacts how much they eat/drink.
