I actually really enjoy cleaning because I love having a clean house. It's a very zen feeling for me. But no sooner do I clean then either DS or DH undoes everything I've just done. It's so frustrating.
I actually like cleaning after DS goes to bed for that reason. Then I can assume to some degree that I will at least be able to get up the next morning and enjoy a clean house. DH isn't typically too bad once dinner is over.
Once DS goes down for the night I'll go reclean the kitchen. It was spotless an hour and a half ago. Boo.
When do you usually clean? Do you have a good strategy for keeping things relatively neat?
Re: When do you clean?
Thorough cleaning after everyone has gone to bed...and do relative spot cleaning as the day goes on.
I too deal with messy people..... DH got to the point where he would take the boys (and himself) away after I cleaned during the day so that I can enjoy my clean house for a little bit.
i was just saying yesterday that i feel like all i do is clean the kitchen and wash bottles and pump accessories, over and over and over again...
i like to send DS upstairs with DH after dinner. they can chill and have alone time and i can clean while i make phone calls. then i'm ALONE!
Some days it feels like a serious exercise in futility.
And mamarazzi, you have an excuse. You get a free pass to have a not-so-clean house. I, however, have no excuse. And you should see our room. Ick. It must be cleaned this weekend or I may have to move out. Heh heh.

I clean when I can and it is not often enough. I love a clean house, but I would also like someone to help me. I do all the cleaning myself and it gets old. My dh could care less if the house is clean or dirty, it does not bother him in the least. Soooooo...I usually clean and do all laundry on the weekends. If it gets done it gets done if not, it is still there for the next weekend.
I clean the kitchen and pick up toys nightly.

I feel like I clean the kitchen after each meal, my countertops are somehow covered, floor is filthy, table dirty, etc....so while DS is still strapped in his booster I quickly wipe down, sweep, and try to restore order. Any other cleaning mostly gets done while he's napping. But I do try to do some things where he can see me, I think it's good for him to see the work that goes into keeping the house clean - so I'll talk about taking out the trash, scrubbing the toilet, sweeping the floors, or putting laundry in the wash as I'm doing it so he has some idea.
I'm definitely not a clean freak though, my sheets don't get changed often enough, or my shower cleaned as much as I would like
