Hello all, I just purchased a Girasol WCRS and I'm so eager to use it. I'm new to babywearing (and baby-everything as my twins are only 6 weeks old!) When I put on the sling, I pull it over my shoulder and spread out the fabric on my back, but it always seems to dig into my neck. There is just too much fabric there! It's not a pleated shoulder. I've seen several youtube videos and paxbaby tutorials and the SBP site. Is this something I just need to get used to or am I doing something wrong? I get really claustrophobic when I keep having to adjust and readjust the sling but I really want to be able to use it. TIA!
Re: Ring Sling in neck ? PIP
How's your pocket? If its not deep enough the material will shift around when LO moves.
I found with a gathered sling, I had to trade some back comfort for neck comfort. With it being spread all the way like in your photo, it's probably spread wide over your back as well. If you can spread the fabric over your back a little less on top, it shouldn't dig into your neck as much and stay on your shoulder. You could also fold the fabric under itself to keep it off your neck as well, or at least further away. I'm not sure if that makes any sense...a picture would be nice, but I'm at work!
I would move the rings out towards your arm a bit more but yes, I think it's just part of a gathered sling.
You could also try tying a thin scarf or strong ribbon a few inches above the rings to hold that fabric away from your neck before it spreads on your back. Hope that makes sense. You would be mimicking the effect of having pleats that gather the fabric higher above the rings.
Ah yes, this sounds like a good idea, I think I'll try it. I see that on SBP you can send in a slingified wrap to get the pleated shoulder, has anyone done this? I actually got this sling "previously loved" as I wanted to try it out. I think next time I'll get the pleats. How addictive!
