Re: "Just sleep when the baby sleeps"
I had a baby without pain meds not major surgery. I am not some weak made of glass child bride. I am not going to sit still and wasted away while others do my work. If I need help I will ask for it otherwise just let me be! I can and will do only what I need to but that does include taking care of my 30 plus pound 2.5 year old. Oh and MIL I didn't need a phone call telling me you were going to be out of phone range and to call my SIL [ who has 2 about the same age as mine by the way] if I needed anything.
This. Some of us have really crappy nappers. I don't even get an hour.

No. I'm starting to get a frustrated DH cause I'm home all day and the house is a mess. He isn't the one with utters of milk that are like crack to our kid. He isn't the one up all night - in fact he is working 40 hours a week and getting 8+ hour of sleep a night.
Sorry. I think I just hijacked your post. People need to STFU unless they are the primary care giver to the child. Each kid is different. I have no clue why people think what worked for theirs will work for ours.....
This is my situation. DS will occasionally sleep 2-3hrs straight but other times I'm lucky if I get 30mins.

OP, I do get the "sleep when she sleeps!" a lot, but not as bad anymore. I do occasionally nap with her, but usually only 30 min a day or so. Like others said, if I don't do productive things while she sleeps, it won't get done.
After 7 years of no ovulation...

No need to apologize! I can completely relate. I'm so envious of DH getting his 8hrs of sleep during the week while I'm getting up with LO. Then on the weekends when I ask him to take the night time feedings since he's off he acts like I'm asking him to get a root canal. I don't think men really get how much work taking care of our LO's 24/7 really is! My DH tells me all the time that he knows taking care of Ben is hard work and he appreciates me yada yada but I don't think he really gets just how much I really do every day.

At least I am not alone! I feel like everyone except my mom thinks I should still be in a hospital resting with nurses taking care of me and my baby. I keep getting looks like I have two heads or something when I move a heavy box or gasp unload the dishwasher or want to wash, fold and put away my laundry in my new house where I am working on figuring out a new system that will hopefully work for my new life. I keep telling myself you should take the help but the stuborn betch in me say get to effe out of my house and let me be!

This for me too. It makes me so mad when people say that!!! If I try to sleep when he sleeps I get so grumpy because he wakes me just as I'm drifting off. It's worse than getting no nap. People telling me that including DH even after I've explained o them why I can't just makes me so mad!!
