I'm watching a segment on PCOS right now on TV. The doctors said that a cycle longer than 35 days is irregular and a cause for concern which should be treated medically.
Off BCP since 1/12 TTC since 3/12 High LH/FSH Ratio 8/12 DX with PCOS 11/12 Clomid 50mg - 19.5mm Follie - Trigger + TI = BFP! 11/12 EDD August 11, 2013
I'm reading "The Patient's Guide to PCOS" by Walter Futterweit and he uses the same stat; longer than 35 days is irregular. My OB doesn't like when my cycles are longer than 40 days, but doesn't do Provera until 60 days.

Just taking a stab here, but when they say over 35 days is irregular, maybe they mean not normal? They may be regular in the sense that they are consistently 40 days, but that's not normal...?

Yes. I think they meant even if you're consistently irregular, it's still not normal if you're going over 35 days.
I'm trying not to be concerned right now... I'll try for a year to get KU and then if I can't do it, I'll head to my doctors then.
SUCH B.S. I got so mad when I was TTC DS and they'd spout that 35 day cycle bs. The other b.s. was "a woman's cycle is 21-35 days" (implying no exceptions to that "rule.") I think that 35 is the arbitrary upper limit choice because it is one week past 28, which is the mean, median, and modal length.
Between getting off of the pill and getting pregnant with DS, about 9 months passed (most of which were not TTC cycles). I charted every month and ovulated every time. My cycles were 35-50 days, which is admittedly irregular, though most of them were 42-44 days. I had no fertility problem and we conceived on the 2nd or 3rd cycle that we tried. There was no cause for concern and no medical treatment necessary.
After my period returned after DS my cycles have miraculously shortened to a small range around 28 days. So now this is no longer an issue for me, but I feel for those long cycle ladies for not getting proper information/attention/respect. You CAN conceive with long cycles! Long cycles do not mean there is something wrong with you!
Well, I am on CD 106 or 107 ( I cant remember exactly) and the freakin doctor wont answer my calls. Well I have only called twice. So, I made an appointment. I need to discuss TTC anyway.
