Trying to Get Pregnant

Fibroids and 1st Pregnancy

I have very painful and severe periods caused by fibroid's. I have consulted with my specialists and am thinking about having a myomectomy done. My Fertility doctor asked me to think about wither I want the shot (Lupron) or the surgery, before committing. My husband and I have no children, and I have never been pregnant before. I have done plenty of research, but have had complications from minor procedures in the past. We are worried about conceiving and complications once I become pregnant after the surgery/or shots. Any one have any advice or stories? Thanks, In Advance

Re: Fibroids and 1st Pregnancy

  • I agree with PP, I have had to do a lot of Lupron treatments and it is horrible. I would do the surgery. A few times I had laps over having to be on Lupron. I would sit down and think about it, also (someone can correct me on this) I am pretty sure with the Lupron you will have a pretty long wait before you could get pregnant. Not positive about that, they might have told me that for different reasons when I had to be on it. I wish you the best though!

  • I found out at my first RE appt that I had a large fibroid on my ute. The plan was to have it removed before starting fertility treatments. 6 days later I found out we were pregnant on our own. I had to be monitored the entire time during my pregnancy because it was so large and continuing to grow, they wanted to make sure it was not getting in the way of the baby growing.

I am not familiar with with Lupron but I did have the laparoscopic myomectomy procedure done last April. I was 7w pp. The surgery its self was not bad. Recovery was about 4 days. I was told to wait 6 months before TTC because there was a stitch on my ute that would take 6 months to dissolve.

Best of luck to which ever treatment you decide on!
