Help! For the first time, my cloth diapers smell like ammonia right out of the dryer! Then the smell HORRIBLY strong like ammonia right after she pees.
Here is my routine.
*Wash every two days
*Rockn' Green soap
*HE machine
*Cold rinse, no spin
*Warm wash, 1.5 tablespoons of Rockn' Green, extra rinse
What should I do??
Re: Ammonia smell out of dryer?
^^ Congrats on the new ticker!
Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste,
It all revolves around you.
Do you add a wet towel to 'trick' your machine into using enough water? Also try a full cycle to rinse well before a HOT cycle with detergent. I've also found vinegar in a fabric softener ball has helped me with this. It works to cut the ammonia and is a natural safe fabric softener.

I do a full wash cycle with no spin to begin. This is a 60 minute wash cycle with no spin. I do that to "trick" my machine into having more water!
I'll try the vinegar ball! Thanks for that tip.
Also, I'm wondering if I was washing too many diapers at once. Around 2-25 diapers with microfiber and hemp inserts.... Do you think that could be a possibility?
