What's your fav. Thanksgiving side?

Can you provide the recipe?

Re: What's your fav. Thanksgiving side?

  • The pink mushy goodness that happens when you're getting close to cleaning your plate and everything has kind of gotten mixed together.  I know that's a cop-out answer, but omg, i'm drooling just thinking about it.

  • Dumplings.  Oh my goodness so good.

I'm pretty sure it's just flour eggs and butter rolled out and cut into little squares then boiled in the broth from the turkey and water.

  • Creamed onions. It's a family tradition. Most people say, "Eww, gross!" But then they try them and they're sold.

  • Candied sweet potatoes. Not sure how to make them but they are soooooo good.

This sounds interesting.  Do you have the recipe?

Also, all of these sound scrumptious!!

  • Grandmothers rolls! She drowns them in butter (when they are raw) and then bakes them.

    Uh no.

Compartment plates for me. I can't stand when my foods touch each other.

  • Green bean casserole -- we make a double batch for just my immediate family, and my sister and I still race to the fridge about an hour after Thanksgiving dinner is over to claim the left overs.

In upstate NY (where I grew up) Birds Eye actually sells them in the freezer section pre-made. So we used to buy those. But when I moved to the west coast, I can't find them here.

My recipe is very similar to this one. Soooo goood.

  • Sourdough stuffing/dressing. All the other Thanksgiving foods come second to my stuffing.
  • My FIL makes this Sweet Potato (actual sweet potatoes not Yams) and banana casserole topped with crunchy nut topping, which has been dubbed Sweet Potato Deliciousness. It is so so so good.

Wait.  Did you just say cheez whiz?

LOL.  How long would it take to squeeze out an entire can?  Does it take 2 hours to make?
