Aversion to all things healthy....

I'm approximately 7 weeks along (1st appointment on 11/1!) and have experiencing extreme food aversions to literally EVERYTHING I ate pre-preganancy!  Normally, I eat a plant-based diet including alkaline grains, no dairy and try to really limit my refined sugars and animal protein (focusing on plant protein).  I also practiced good food pairing (i.e. no starches and protein eaten together).  I felt GREAT and I've worked really hard to get where I am, health-wise!  However- the thought of a leafy green now makes my stomach turn!  Fruit is OK, but doesn't sustain me for long and then the nausea is back.  What I DO want is fast-food sandwiches and sugary cereal...and only that!  Anyone else in the same boat?  I'm having a really hard time accepting the fact that I'll be eating primarily fast food and Fruity Pebbles for the next 1-2 months!!  Gross.....

I was the same way. My Dr. told me to eat whatever I was able to keep down. I'm now 11 weeks 2 days and I can eat certain healthy things again. It'll get better :)

I was like you pre-pregnancy, except I am full vegetarian.  But I ate tons of leafy vegetables and whole foods.  Ever since around 6 weeks, all I can handle is bread, pasta, potatoes, and cereal.  Basically anything bland and horrible for you.  In the past week it has gotten slightly better- I ate some raw broccoli once, and have been having some carrots most days.  I cant wait to get back on track because it feels so disgusting (I say as I finish my delicious mac and cheese lunch)!

I was in a similar situation. Before pregnancy and until 6 weeks, I ate healthy. Then, from 6-11 weeks it was awful. It was literally whatever I could muster. It started getting better around 11 weeks and now at almost 13, I am pretty much back to my pre pregnancy eating with a little extra. For instance, in the morning, I used to have tea with raw, grain free granola. Now, I eat that and add a banana. For a while, all I wanted to eat we're chik FIL a breakfast burritos. What!?

Be patient with yourself. You'll get back there again.

Glad to hear I'm not alone. I wasn't as hardcore healthy as you but I definitely maintained a solid healthy diet for years pre-pregnancy. Now I'm eating way too many Halloween chocolate bars and can't stomach much else but fluids. Just a few more weeks of first trimester *sigh* lol

This is me too! glad we aren't alone. I've already gained 4 pounds and I'm only 9 weeks!! hopefully after the nausea passes,(knock on wood it does) I can get back to my healthy eating ways. If not I'm for sure gonna weigh 3 tons at the end og this pregnancy!! (I just ate a backed potato and it's only 11:00 : ( )

I'm going through the same thing! I went from eating spinach salads with tonnes of veggies for lunch to eating now whatever I can keep down. I can't even look at spinach without feeling like throwing up. I really miss peppers. I used to love them and now can't stomach them!

I'm in the same boat with trying to find healthy things to eat. I have been eating a lot of fruit but like you it doesn't sustain me for long. This now has me eating more portions of fruit throughout the day. I also find that rice is delicious! I have that a lot and it helps fill me and keeps my m/s at bay. It sucks there wasn't more nutritional aspects to it but beggars can't be choosers!

I switched from having my oatmeal or omelets in the morning to Raisin Bran and an apple. I have eggs when I can stomach them and they help with extra protein.

I've found myself craving pastas and bread and such and I let myself eat them but I just watch my portions!

I would try to stay away from the fast food and try making them yourself at home. If you want a burger, fries, etc. try making them at home and they're less greasy and processed! I've been doing that and it seems to be helping.

With my change in eating I've only gained about 2lbs which is normal for the first trimester. I'm just trying to keep the junk in moderation!

    Good luck!

I am in the same boat, although, I am trying to only bring healthy options with me to work and hold back from going out at lunch.  I am finding I am so nauseas in the morning and then get ravenous right before lunch, eat and then feel horrible again.  This seems to be the daily wave I am riding.  I am eating what tastes good and I think I can stomach, I'm just trying to watch my portions and eat smaller meals more often.......

I felt similar. I ate really healthy before I got pregnant, then around 7 weeks I really didn't want ANY vegetables, chicken, or fish.  They didn't make me sick, I just didn't want them. All I wanted were turkey and cheese sandwiches, which I couldn't have due to the nitrates, and fast food.  Luckily it only lasted a few weeks. Now I don't have an excuse for not eating healthy. : (  Good luck!

I also don't want to eat healthy food - and I've been craving junk/fast food:  cheeseburger, fish fry, thai food, etc.  With DS I gained a total of 50lbs and I don't really want to gain that much this time..  But I'm also STARVING all the time - already!!!  I literally feel like I'm going to die if I don't eat some type of carbs...  And then this weekend I cooked a bunch of awesome food, and now some of it looks so unappetizing...  crazy pregnancy cravings!

I am not a vegatarian but we do try to eat healthier so to speak.  I was on a diet when I got pregnant so I was already weeding out pop and too much junk food.   We ate no fried food and ate out rarely.

Well as soon as I got pregnant even before I knew, I had severe aversions to anything sweet, pop, candy, ice cream, anything.   I was so excited I thought this is going to be the healthiest baby ever.   Well.......  now that I am just over 12 weeks all I want is seem to crave is candy bars.... I am NOT a candy bar person, just not my favorite sweet treat, in fact it has been years sinceI had one.   So far today I have eaten 4 fun size milky ways.  That isnt all I have eaten today but that is what I am craving.

I am slowly starting to be able to eat more and more healthier things.  I have been eating baby carrots, apples and some raisins on and off.

I figure at this point my body knows more about what I need than I do and I just try to eat in moderation.   I eat probably 5 very small meals a day that seems to keep the nausia to a minimum.
Today I have an added pain and that is a headache and when I get them all I want to do is eat... ugghhhh

On the upside i have yet to gain any weight, so I must be doing something right..... right?

I am 7 weeks and about 95 vegan myself. I was eating lots of cooked veggies and whole grains but now can't stomach them. Now I eat fruit and have been making smoothies hiding raw spinach in there with my fruit and almond milk to get the nutrients I need. I use a book called Unprocessed by Chef AJ for smoothie recipes. I also want to eat more basic comfort foods so I make things at home like last night I made my own nachos with organic chips, beans, Gardein and Daiya vegan products. You don't need animal protein for a healthy pregnancy or diet in general.

LOL ditto.. I was thinking about this last night. A salad sounds horrible, and I use to love veggies any veggie. My mother in-law use to joke that when I was around at least she had no leftover veggies.

Now little debbie cakes, jello, potatoe chips and fast food sound wonderful. I'm trying to get in healthy when my stomach can handle it and fight the cravings for junk.

I was the same way with food aversions. I wouldn't consider myself a healthy eater before, but I wasn't eating fast food multiple times a day! I felt so gross!

Now most of my aversions are gone I am trying to get back into cooking at home more. My issue now is I get hungry so fast that I am just starving and can't function until I get something to eat. Usually that was going to get something quickly. (It is the strangest feeling!) This week I bought a bunch of healthy snacks to have on hand when I get ravenous. Cross your fingers!! :D
