Weaning or nursing strike?

Last night DS (15 months) started screaming bloody murder when I tried to nurse (he nurses first thing in the morning and also before bed).  I tried for a bit before calling it quits.

After he had been asleep for a bit I tried to dream nurse him and he wanted nothing to do with it...screaming bloody murder.  So I put him back to bed.

This morning he fussed a little but then ended up nursing a bit.  Tonight he refused again, screaming like a madman.

He did cut two new teeth this weekend so maybe it hurts?  The other thing, two nights ago he bit me and I reacted a little strongly.  I don't know if he's weaning or just on a strike. :( It's making me sad...  I had to pull out my pump tonight after not using it for three months.

Re: Weaning or nursing strike?

  • Weaning is gradual, strikes are not. I would classify this as a strike or as a reaction to YOUR reaction to being bitten. Try nursing when he's sleepier and more relaxed. Good luck!
