I don?t know how I feel about these. My neighbor last night was complaining that her SIL made one for her kids for xmas. But went on to say she went ahead and made one for her DD, too. I can see how they?re useful, but so is picking up a phone and having a conversation.

Re: Xmas/Bday registries: yay or nay?
The only way I could maybe see it is just with-in the family. both Dh's and my parents are divorced and remarried so they all call wanting lists of what to get DD, some live out of state, so they don't know what she has . But even then I don't think I would do it.
But to pass the info along to everyone, no way, tacky in my book.

We have one for Michael on Amazon. First of all it reminds me of what I might want to get him. And then when family members ask what he might want (which they always do) I just refer them to the list for general ideas. It's got all kinds of things in all price categories from different websites. I WISH my sister-in-laws would do them for their kids. Pulling what their kids want for Christmas/Birthdays out of them is like pulling teeth. And I don't have time to shop around.
Now - what's rude (IMHO) is my sister-in-law telling me to get her 10 year old kid a gift card. I might as well just slip the kid a 20 for God's sake! Talk about taking the joy out of gift giving.

Nay, but I don't see it being any different than making out a list for people and reading it or showing it....
We did the Amazon gift list too. It's nice because you can add stuff from any website to it. I originally made it just for my Dad and Brother who live out of state and will ship something but sent it to my SIL because she asked for ideas. She thought it was a good idea so she made one for each of her 4 kids but she sent hers to about 15 different people. That's a little much for me. If someone asks, then I'll send it but not just because. It's like asking for gifts IMO.
