Pregnant after a Loss

PgAL brain getting to me..

I was sitting here thinking to myself.. So I need to see what you ladies think.

I had a obvious positive FRER HPT on Friday the 19th, with first morning urine. So yesterday afternoon I got a beta draw and it was 101.

Since your HCG has to be at 25 with FRER, and blood serum always has a higher count than urine.. That means im not rising in numbers accordingly?

This is confusing to me. Or is it to everyone?

Im going to beg my dr. tomorrow to do a 2nd draw. They originally said no.

Re: PgAL brain getting to me..

  • I know ladies who've gotten a BFP with levels lower than 25.  I really don't think you need to worry about this!

Even if you were at 25 on Friday, being at 101 yesterday would be on track.  see here:

please stop worrying about this!  PGAL brain sucks sometimes, but I think your number is fine!

  • Some FRER's pick up as low as 6, but you can in no way shape or form correlate betas to HPTs.  HPTs aren't consistent in terms how dark the line is compared to what's in your blood stream.  I've actually heard of a case where a girl kept testing and getting lighter tests (and plenty where they didn't get darker) and their betas rose just like they were suppose to.

Also HPTs aren't picking up actual HCG, but rather the broken down form of it as your body processes the hormone, which everyone does at a different rate.  I've been there, I know it's hard, but hang in there and try to focus on the fact that today you are pg!

  • After my loss I was still getting positives with HCG levels in the single digits.  I think the companies tent to err on the safe side when they note the sensitivity of their tests.  I wouldn't let this worry you too much.
