f/u to "Officially..."

argh! I had the appointment today to get the Mirena out, but the nurse didnt do it! so mad. I told the receptionist when I made the appt that that was what I wanted (I knew I had to tell them this, because apparently they need to get the instruments before hand, or soemthing) so then when I got there, she was like, oh I didnt know you were coming in, so we don't have the right instruments! wtf. Im glad I wasted my time going in for nothing!

Also, she wants to look into the fact Im on Zoloft for PPD, and how that would affect things. Grr.

Its especially annoying bc RIGHT NOW is the "fertile window", so we have now wasted this cycle.

  • AH! That stinks! Why would taking the Mirena OUT have an effect on Zoloft?

  • If the mirena is still in then how do you have a fertile window?

you still ovulate, but the hormones make your uterine lining thinner, helping to decrease the possibility of something sticking. Frasey if it makes you feel better, chances would have been really thin this cycle anyway. Sorry, though.

  • OK Mirena lesson:

    1. She wants to keep me on the zoloft bc I guess between taking the Mirena out (change of hormones) paired with pregnancy (also change of hormones!) can lead to flare-up of PPD. Or so she said.

    2. Fertile window on cycle, not taking Mirena into account. But it IS possible to get pg immediately after getting Mirena out, or even before, since sperm can live up to 5 days. So we did the deed last night, and since it can take a few days to meet up and implant, that can happen AFTER the mirena is out, even tho conception can happen BEFORE Mirena is out. Follow me?

  • Ohhh didn't know that. I just assumed that you don't ovulate on Mirena like with the pill. Good to know since I was considering that as an option eventually!

Makes total sense. I wasn't thinking about the hormonal aspect.

  • Boo!  Even though chances were probably low, it still sucks to feel like you have a wasted cycle.

  • It took me a couple of months to get pregnant after my mirena came out. I had it 4 years. I had it taken out in jan and got pregnant in may. I Only had one or 2 af while I had mirena.
