Stupid makeup question

I don't wear much makeup and pretty much don't know anything about it. Awhile back I got some Smashbox stuff based on recommendations from people on here (no regrets- it's awesome!) and the sales person gave me a highlighter quad for free. It's really pretty, but I have zero idea of what do to with it.

Can someone help a clueless woman out here? I'm trying to be a non-frumpy mom and I need all the help I can get!

Re: Stupid makeup question

  • Do you have a link to the highlighter quad?  That would make it easier to help.

  • I got it awhile ago, so I'm not sure I can find it, but let me look online and see if I can find something close.

  • Ok, cool.  If not, I can probably take a stab at it anyway.

I can't find anything like it online, but here's a picture (sorry it's kind of blurry). All it says on the label is that it's a highlighter quad. The consistency is more creamy than powdery but it's not super creamy.

Any thoughts? I should have just asked her when she gave it to me.

  • It looks like you could use it as an eyeshadow base - the beige-y one in the top left is very similar to what I use.  I use it by itself, with just some mascara, all over the lid, or I use it as a base underneath my eyeshadows.

I think I've read you can do more with smashbox highlighter quads - like use them on your cheeks, nose, etc., but I don't have any and haven't ever done it myself.  Pin might have a better suggestion.

One thing I use white shadows for is to put a little bit on the sides of my nose up by the corner of my eye - a makeup artist told me it makes your eyes look more awake.  So you could use the one in the bottom right for that.

The two darker colors I think you could use on your cheeks or you could use them as an eyeshadow all over your lid, probably.

    I hope that helps!  :)

  • Thanks eclaires. I suspected they were probably pretty flexible but I just wasn't sure. That's really helpful. :)
