"Sports Candy" - kids' TV vent....

Okay, so we do let Ben watch a little bit of TV during the day.  Normally, it's Super Why or Bubble Guppies, though he also likes the Fresh Beat Band (he dances to the songs!).  We tend to limit it to one episode.  It has been super helpful with a mobile baby and a mom that needs to pump! 

Anyone, WTF is with the "sports candy" nonsense on Sprout!?!?!  They call vegetables "sports candy".  Seriously???  WHY? How about we don't make vegetables a "bad" word and call them what they are?  CANDY???  Ugh.

And for the love of all that is holy, why is this a game for children?

 You force-feed a pig until his buckle busts open.  WHAT?

I'm a bit speechless to both the sports candy and the pig. I'm not sure which is worse.

Ya, that's totally bizarre. I've heard dieticians recommend calling carrots "X-ray vision carrots" or spinach "Super strength spinach" to entice kids to eat it, but calling it candy?? I just don't understand that one...

I'm with you on the "sports candy." That's pretty dumb. We just made up our own names for the veggies, but never pretended they were something they weren't. For example, lima beans were magic beans. Broccoli was trees, and we were dinosaurs. So yeah, "sports candy" is dumb. At least my names made sense. And what the heck is that pig about? But I couldn't stop laughing at the names of the shows. "Super Why?" "Bubble Guppies??" Hahahaha!
