I received wine/champagne or crystal stuff like Waterford vases, pitchers, bowls, silver pieces etc. when i got engaged. It was too early for me to have put together a registry.
It is not traditionally expected etiquette-wise to buy an engagement gift, especially for an engagement party, so I wouldn't stress about it! If you are in the wedding you will have plenty of opportunities to give them gifts.
If you want to give them something anyway, I am sure they would love wine or champagne. Or maybe gourmet chocolates if they don't drink.
Re: Engagement Gift?
How about a fancy bottle of wine or champagne?
