Please help! Tired and pregnant mom

Hi! My Son 7+ months is now waking at night and fights to go back down... I have been up all night again. He woke at 12am had bottle went back to sleep but his new pattern is waking at 3:30 am and sitting up in his crib playing for awhile and then screams when I try to get him back to sleep nothing works..even try to feed him again and he does not want it. The minute he gets back in crib he is screaming! He did cut 2 bottom teeth last week but I hate to give him tynelol etc if I don't know that really what's bothering him. Any advice would be appreciated!

  • Tylonel won't hurt him.  Try it for two nights and if it doesn't work then stop giving it.  I have given Madison Tylonel when I have exercised all other options and it usually helps her sleep. (This was right before and after she cut her bottom two teeth).  She wakes up once a night (twice last night) to eat so I feel your pain.  I feel like she's never going to STTN again!

  • Is it possible he may have an ear infection or acid reflux? Maybe you should have your Pedi check him out to rule out anything like that. She may even direct you on what the issue could be.

  • We have a similar issue. DD is up at least twice a night and hates her crib.

I used to just go to the couch but I think that became a trend for her that she likes, so my new thing is to rock her in her room, rubbing her back, patting her butt. If that doesn't work, then I feed her.

Once shes asleep again, I SLOWLY and carefully lower her into her crib, still hugging her tight. Once she hits the mattress I wait then SLOWLY pull my arms from under her. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If it doesn't, I start again. But if it's unsuccessful AGAIN - I give up and go to the couch cuz I'm exhausted.

I don't know if this will work for you if your 20 wks, it may be hard to lean over the crib rail like that for that long. It's hard enough on MY back! It is one of the sleep strategies recommended by the "no cry sleep solution". I am following that book and I highly recommend it! She is by no means STTN - but 3 out of the 4 nights we've done it - she's improved greatly and gone back to her crib every time! GL!

  • When Lucia wakes around 3:30 and plays in her crib, we just leave her there.  She plays, then eventually gets tired and goes back to sleep.  If we go in, she wants to play and gets pissed off and cries.  Have you tried not going back in to try and get him to sleep?
