Newbie - South Shore Hospital vs Norwood Hospital

First of all - Hello!

I'm a former Knottie and Nestie, but haven't been on the boards for a while. I hope to start posting a bit more and catching up with everyone!

I have PCOS and DH and I are just starting with TTC, so of course I have a lot of questions for a doc.  I was previously living closer to Quincy, so my GYN was at Crown, but I plan on switching.  We now live closer to Norwood/Dedham, so I made an appointment (for my annual and a consultation) with an OB/GYM at Norwood (about 15mis away).  It would probably be 10-15mins more to go to South Shore Hospital, so I am trying to compare the two.

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Newbie - South Shore Hospital vs Norwood Hospital

  • We delivered both of our babies at SSH and we loved it.  Our original OB moved to Tufts and we liked it so much there that we switched to a different OB so we could still deliver at SSH.

  • I had both my babies at Norwood and will have my third there in January. I had two very great experiences. My first was a c-section and second a VBAC. Staff was so kind and always available. The floor is not large so the care you can is very one on one. I love my OB - Alice Shen. She is great. There are three or four NPs in her office as well. All are great. I found it so nice to be so close to the hospital incase I ever needed to go for extra testing or those types of things. The negative would be there is no NICU. You have to go to Saint E's for that. Good luck and message me if you have any questions.

  • Thank you both!  It is wonderful to know that these are both good options.  I had a preconception consultation with a Dr at Norwood, and felt very comfortable with her, so I think that may be where we go.

    Thanks again!
