Baby Carrier...Crotch Dangler....WHAT?? STMS help!

So I've been researching baby carriers, and I've put a couple on my registry. I keep seeing people refer to certain carriers as "crotch danglers" and this seems to be a bad thing...it SOUNDS like a bad thing, but I'm just not sure what I should be looking for in these carriers.

Any advice?

Yes, some carriers are bad for babies growing hips and legs here's an article:

This is a good summary.  I (as well as a ton of other STM+s on here) really recommend the Ergo.

We had a crotch dangler (Infantino carrier) that was gifted to us.  I hadn't even registered for a carrier because my mom had no luck with any of us in them (all 3 of us hated being in a carrier with a passion). This proved to be true for DD, as well.  But, I am now starting to think it was more because of how her legs would hang (all 4 times we used it).

I purchased an Ergo on babysteals a few weeks ago.  I can't wait to use it!

Get an Ergo.  You will not regret it!

Highly recommend an Ergo as well, I sold mine after DD was suppose to be our last baby and I wish I hadn't. I'm definitely buying another one with this little one.

Which ERGO did you ladies use?  They have so many styles, its hard to choose one!  I think we are considering the original.

Thank you for posting this! I'm a first time mom and a working on my registry now. I almost registered for the baby Bjorn.

We registered for the Beco Gemini.. largely based on recommendations from Lucie's List (https://www.lucieslist.com/).. As a FTM, we've been using this as a guide to only register for the stuff we'll actually need/use and not a whole lot of useless "nice to have" extras that will just get neglected..

Not sure how this one rates on the crotch dangler scale though!

We used a Bjorn that SIL handed down to us...but we only used it a handful of times. Plus, the few times we did use it DH was the one the "wore" her. DD hated every kind of "wearing" that I tried. She liked to be completely free, lol. I still have my barely-used Moby wrap and am hoping DD#2 will like that one better!

Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?...But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:26-27&33-34

IS this really a big deal if I only plan on wearing the baby once in a while? I will mostly use the infant car carrier but I do want a babywearig carrier for those rare times I want to walk without a stroller or carrier, but dont think it's worth it to purchase the 130 ergo carrier for using maybe once a month. Anyone else thinking this way, or heard any studies that say how often or for how long a baby has to crotchdangle for it to really affect hips?

In the article that was attached previously, it mentioned that if it's an occasional thing it's not a big deal.

We have an Ergo that I still use to back carry DS, but I have heard from some that the infant insert can be a real PITA. I don't know from experience since we didn't buy ours until DS was older.

We used a BabyHawk when he was an infant and I freaking LOVE that thing.  I can't wait to use it with this baby!!
