OS vs. sized

I'm a FTM trying to wade through the information overload of cloth diapering! Please talk to me about your experiences with one size vs. sized diapers. Why might I not want OS? I have added to my registry BG Freetime and 4.0's, both in OS, to try before we decide on a style to buy a bunch of, but wondering if I shouldn't try some sized ones.

I should add, I have heard that newborns will often need a smaller diaper. I'm talking about after the newborn stage, is there any reason I wouldn't want OS?

Newborns usually won't fit in one-sized diapers.  Otherwise, some people prefer the sized diapers for better fit/less bulk when babies are smaller.  The specific sized diapers might fit better under babies clothes.  Also, I've heard some older toddlers might actually out grow their one-sized diapers.

I use OS (BG Elementals) and went that route because it is easier/more cost effective than having to size up every so often.  However, you could sell your too small diapers to fund the next size up, so I'm sure it can be done cheaply.  DD didn't fit into them until about 9 weeks or so.  She is 7.5 months, long and lean, and we are still on the smallest rise and almost the smallest waist.  As for bulk, one of the reasons I went with the Elementals for the bulk of my stash is because they are super trim.

I went with OS...they were a big start up investment and I didn't want to have to explain to DH why we needed more a year down the road. I don't find them to be as bulky as I expected..but maybe I'm just used to them.

I liked having small sized diapers the first few months. They just fit DD better than OS. As she is outgrowing them I am replacing them with OS and probably won't buy sized again unless she outgrows those. I bought all my smalls on sale and probably didnt spend more than $80 onthem, and some of them she will still be in for a month or two.

The OS diapers I have are huge!! If I had a bigger baby, maybe they would be more practical in a month or so but my newest LO is TINY!! And her newborn sizes are too big...so I can't imagine when she'll be able to wear the OS's I have! I'm hoping she'll grow into her newborns by four weeks let alone the size 1's and OS's. 

I would do a mixture personally.
