Crib Soothers

Talk to me about yours! G wont sleep in his crib. He used, but now only wants to sleep in our bed. It hasn't been that big of a deal, but Hubby is starting to get annoyed. I was thinking a crib soother might help, especially since we are going to try the No Fail Sleep Solution. My friend recommended a soother to help with this process. Recommendations appreciated!

Re: Crib Soothers

  • We have a mobile that DS likes.  He can pull up now so we took the dangling animal part down, however, it also has a light projector.  He loves looking at the lights and playing the music.  Bonus - it has a remote control that we hang on his doorknob so we can turn it on without him seeing us.

He also loves his gloworm, but I think I am going to get the Fischer Price seahorse because it plays longer.

  • I use a white noise machine.  I use the rain or stream sounds.  A few things I've read here and there say the "Shhhhhing" sounds really calm a baby.  I believe it's true because when I rock him I "shhhh" to get him calmed down and then hummm songs to him.  That's why I use the rain or stream...they're more of a constant sound.  We used the heart beat bear from birth, 'til it died.  Not the "womb" bear, but more heartbeat bear.  He loved that too.

  • We are having the same issues. We noticed she woke up when we shut the tv off and went to bed. So I tried putting the radio on super quiet and we left the tv on all night last night for white noise. Wasn't an instant cure but I feel it was a success. She put herself back to sleep twice when she started her wake up cry and went back into her crib 3 times! At 4 am though - she was up for real - so we hit the couch til she got tired around 5:30.

O and every time I put her back I did it super slow - still with my arms around her and carefully slid them out from under her. Every time the eyes twitched open I stopped til they closed again. The no Cry Solution suggests all of this. I used to just lay her down quick and run - and that failed miserably.

ETA: The tv is in our living room - we have an apartment.  We keep her door open which is why she can hear it. She does not have a tv in her room like I made it sound!
