We were offered it at the 9 mo. appointment and I passed until I could research it a bit more. DS isn't around any other infants really, so I'm not in any rush.
I haven't in the past, but this year my 3 year old is in mother's day out and they both go to MOPS twice a month so they are around other kids more. If neither of those situations happened, I would have skipped it again this year.

I chose to... I have always seen eye to eye with dr. And so I asked her opinion and if she would do it for her son.... She said yes. I get one and got one while pregnant with DS so he could have antibodies when he was born during flu season... Why would this be different
Yep, I got the flu vaccine last year when I was pregnant and the whole family, DS included, got it this year too. DH's job takes him to schools and nursing homes all over the state, Grandma works for a long-term-care hospital, and DS goes to the church nursery every Sunday, so we need to stay protected. I honestly don't see any reason not to vaccinate.

Our girls got their flu shot this year. Our Pedi split it into two doses, not sure if that is standard practice or not, but he said he does it because it's easier for their bodies. They are always around family, and we go out a lot. I would much rather them get vaccinated then risk them getting the flu. DH and I plan on getting a flu shot as well to help keep us from getting them sick.
He got it at his 9 mo, and he'll probably get another one at his 12mo appointment. The dr suggested it, and I trust her. I usually get every year, I work at a hospital, and DH is a firefighter, so even though DS isn't around other kids, we both come into contact with sick people.
After 2years TTC and 1yr,2mo waiting for an adoption match, our blessing is here!

Yes. I am a huge proponent of vaccines. Millions of children's lives have been saved throughout the years from modern medicine, including vaccines. This is not something I am willing to take a risk on.
Absolutely. Not only is he in daycare and exposed to other infants and adults, DH is a teacher, so who knows what kind of germs he brings home. DS is around lots of other people (adults and children alike), and I would absolutely hate for him to get a perfectly preventable illness). He got part one last week, and was a champ! We go back next month for the 2nd half.
As a pediatric RN who has given hundreds, if not thousands of doses of flu vaccine to babies and children- and I have never seen any reaction more than a red area (normal)- I chose to get it for my son. He isn't around a ton of other kids, but it doesn't really take that to get the flu. People are contagious before they know they are infected too, so just going anywhere in public puts them at risk. They need two doses the first year, DS just received his first one about 2 weeks ago and we will get his second at his 1 year appt in December

My doctor said that the first time you get the shot it isn't effective, so that's why the first time they get the flu shot they have to get 2 shots, a month apart.
We got the flu shot after talking to my doctor. My son's in daycare, so he's around germy kids all day and frankly, he doesn't understand "sick." All he understands is feeling awful and I'd like to keep him from that as much as possible.
DD just got her first one today and will get the booster at her 12 month well visit. There was never a question of her getting it, she's in daycare and we are out and about a lot even when we're home.
Just because your baby isn't around other babies doesn't mean it's impossible/unlikely that they'll contract the flu - adults carry it too.
Nope, not for my DD. It's not necessary and I don't like the fact that I don't know exactly what's in the shot and it's going into my little babies body.
Yes she will get the first half this week and the other half in a month. It's not a question at our house as she goes to daycare and I work with foster kids so our exposure to germs is pretty high.

I got it for my son and he isn't really around any other infants. However, we do go out to the stores etc and he can come in contact with a sick person then. Plus, my husband is a teacher and I am a nurse so I felt it was important that he got the flu shot.
I get it every year because the one time I didn't, I got the flu and it sucked. LO is in DC and I am a teacher, so we both come in contact with a lot of germs. Even if he's not around other babies, you still bring home germs if you leave your house.

1. DS goes to the library with his nanny at least once a week and plays with the train table and tries to grab the other kids' binkies.
2. We're flying Monday and airplanes and airports are just nasty.
3. MIL is against getting the shot and takes care of him sometimes.
So yeah, to do what I can to protect him from getting sick this winter and to protect myself from having to deal with a sick kid, LO got the jab.
