Fiance and I just decided that we want to have a baby in the near future, so I stopped taking my pills end of september!! Just wondering if anyone on here was lucky enough to get KU their first cycle trying! I've heard it can take 3 months or longer
I was fortunate to get pregnant this time around the first month, but I chart so it was expected. Your body will do what it can take as far as when it gets pregnant (or so my doctor has told me) some women it's right away and others its three months or three years. My first pregnancy I wasn't so lucky to get pregnant right away!
Oh that's very exciting, congratulations! I've considered charting. I was on the pill for so long that all of this new information about ttc is sort of overwhelming.
Me! I went off the pill at the beginning of September and I am now pregnant with our first child! I did not chart, temp, or anything - but we did have sex almost every other day.
Yup. We weren't even "trying". Just not really trying very hard not to. I quit taking mine the beginning of July, and I'm pretty sure w conceived August 4th. BC does screw with you though, so don't be discouraged if you don't get pregnant right away! GL!

I stopped taking the pill at the end of August and I am now 6.5 week pregnant. I didn't chart/temp or anything either. I was pretty sure I felt myself ovulate around day 14 of my cycle and we had sex several days around ovulation time. Good luck!
ETA- I am 27 years old and started on the pill in 10th grade and was on it continuously (switched brands a few times but no breaks)
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind."
- Kurt Vonnegut
Also, maybe I should add - I was on the pill for about 6 years. I really don't know how I got this lucky.
Some people's bodies bounce RIGHT back! You are very lucky! I was on mine for about 5 years... Fingers crossed!! I'm wondering though, did you have any side effects from coming off the pill? Cramping, fatigue any of that?

Congrats!!! & Thank you
Ovulation cramps confuse me. Are they painful and noticable? Or mostly dull and achy? About 9/10 days into my cycle I had dull achy cramps off and on.. Then 9/10 days later I had MISERABLE cramps, just in the morning... Thought my period was coming for sure - then, nothing. Now I'm just waiting...That was a few days ago.

I would say I noticed the ovulation cramps but they weren't painful. At the time I wasn't sure if what I was feeling was side effects from getting off the pill or ovulation but now I'm pregnant so I'm assuming it was ovulation.

That's kind of where I'm at right now too. It's this waiting business that I'm no good at, lol.
It can take a healthy couple up to a year to get pregnant. There is only a 20 to 25 percent chance of conception in any given cycle with well timed sex.
With DD, I went off BC and got pregnant on my fourth cycle off. This time, I got pregnant on my fifth cycle off, but I also had weaning from breastfeeding and crazy postpartum cycles as wrenches thrown into the gears.
I suggest you read up on fertility. Buy a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility and sign up at fertilityfriend.com. Charting will greatly increase your chances. To find out when you're ovulating, you can temp, use ovulation predictors, and track CM.
To answer your question about O pain; I tend to get dull cramps 2 to 3 days before I ovulate.
My OB knew we were planning soon and advised me not to wait 3 months after stopping. She says many women are super fertile then. I stopped taking it July 21 and conceived during the last few days in August...had been totally preparing for it to take 6mos to a year and was not expect that - but thrilled!
Also, maybe I should add - I was on the pill for about 6 years. I really don't know how I got this lucky.

Really, no. I felt more fatigued ON the pill, and had absolutely no desire to have sex. When I stopped taking it, my body was like, ok let's get prego!

Well....I did, kind of. I went off the pill late August (after using it for 3.5 years) and we used barrier methods for that cycle (the timing wasn't quite right for us), but the 2nd month off the pill (1st cycle trying), we got the BFP! Just last night, in fact. Still doesn't feel real....
I got off the pill and started charting by bbt and CM. We got pregnant the 2nd month off BCPs. I was not expecting my cycles to return to a 'normal' for a while as I had been on BCPs for a long time and before that I had been off Depo for 18 months with only 4 cycles.
It can take a while, but learning your body will help you know when to time sex or when to see your doctor because you're not ovulating or if there's something else going on that would/could hinder pregnancy occurring or lasting.

Just a heads up, your cycles can be really weird when you get off the pill. I got pregnant on my second cycle, but it was over 3 months after I got off the pill.

My husband and I decided the same thing around August. I didnt think I would have any problems but I also didnt think it would happen so fast. After my last cycle on 8/18 I stopped taking the pills. On 9/20 I got a BFP. Went to the OB for my 1st appt. on Tuesday and everything was great. I was not charting or anything. We were just going to let it happen. We werent really trying at the time but we werent NOT trying either. Good luck to you.
We waited a year after we got married and started trying this summer. We expected it to take a few months and also got KU our first cycle. I just hope it will be this easy the 2nd time around.
I wasn't on the pill, but I did get pregnant my first cycle trying. I charted and used OPKs.
If this is your first month off the pill, it may take a few cycles for your body to "bounce back" to normal. Some people are lucky, others just have to wait a bit.
There's only a 15-20% chance of conceiving every month. Good luck! Just don't hang all your hopes on the first try.

Hi! I got pregnant two weeks after stopping BC-- decided to give it a go after August period, got positive result in September!! This is my 3rd-- I always went back on pill after BF and never had issues! Good luck- have fun with it!!
We did! It was a surprise and every day that DH told me to stop taking I reminded him he had to be prepared for a little one in 9 mo. Well when I got my BFP a few weeks later he was a little freaked out bc it was so soon but I warned him!
I was one of the lucky ones I went off the pill July 13 and got my BFP on Aug 15. We had the same thinking. We knew we wanted to have a baby so just thought I'd go off the pill and let time take it's course. I'd been on it for 10 years and never expected my body to level itself out that quickly.
It's a REAL possibility! As are MANY other scenarios. Just have to be prepared for whatever may happen

This. I stopped after we got married in July and got KU in early August.
My husband and I were lucky enough to get pregnant the first month off the pill.
We were planning on starting a family and because of some underlying medical issues we had to up the date I was to stop taking the pill.
I took the last pill on August 19th and had a positive test Sept. 15. Both husband and I were floored! We thought it would take us awhile to conceive but apparently the stars aligned and we lucked out!
I was shocked because after being on the pill for 12 years I figured it would take my body a couple of moths to sort itself out. Apparently I was wrong! I've never been so happy to be wrong!
I do have friends that took 4 months, 7 months and 18 months before they conceived. Everyone is different.
