Did anyone's Dr. tell them this and you were able to have one. He didn't think I would be a candidate because DD was so big and he said generally if you have had one big baby the rest will be big as well. He said we could see what happens. I'm not that upset because I'm happy the baby is OK.
He did say, some ovens just make bigger babies. That made me laugh.
Re: Dr. doesn't think I'm a candidate for VBAC
I didn't even consider a VBAC. Good thing, because my doc won't do them.
My fetal med specialist did say that people who have big babies go on to have more big babies. This one is following the same path that ds did, so I don't doubt him,
DS - December 2006
DD - December 2008
How far along are you? ?The size thing isn't always true. ?My oldest was 9 lbs, 1 oz., and my younger son only weighed 6 lbs, 11 oz. ?
Unless you're pretty far along and the baby is measuring big, it seems a little early to make that call.?
I agree that some people just have big babies (I had 2 big babies) and normally the second is bigger then the first.
#1 10lbs 3 oz (9 days early)
#2 9lbs 8 oz (14 days early)
#3 9 lbs 11 oz. (18 days early)
So, yes, you will have big babies probably for all of them.
The best thing to do is accept it and make the most of it. I was slightly bummed when I got preg with #2 about having another c-section, but when I came to terms with that being my ONLY option for a healthy baby, I was on board and happy to walk to the OR. Sure I didn't "push" and have "contractions", but I was a part of my c-section...a BIG part and loved every minute of it.
Plus, the recovery will be better!
No doctor should be telling you that you can't VBAC just because you had one big baby. It is true some women grow bigger babies, but it is also true that your body (generally) won't grow a baby you can't birth. (Unless, of course, you're Asian and married to a basketball player!) Risks for mother and baby are higher in a surgical birth (and with each successive surgical birth), and recovery can interfere with breastfeeding, so that is why VBACs are better if possible.

Hope either way you have a peaceful birth and healthy happy baby!
