DS has his first cold... My fault, I got it from work, and DH and I have had it for a week. PJ has had it all weekend, but the coughing didn't really start until yesterday. This morning, he woke up at 4 to eat, but only ate a little bit. He snuggled up to me and went to sleep. He sleeps in the crib until his 4 o'clock feeding when I pull him into bed to eat. So as he's all snuggled, he starts coughing every 10 minutes or so...all while still sleeping. I was wide awake. He woke up at 4:30 from the coughing, and DH got him some ibuprofen....which did seem to help. He stopped coughing at about 5:30, so I was able to get a little more sleep before work.

DH is off today bc he works for the government and it's Columbus Day. So, DS is home with his dad, but I feel TERRIBLE for leaving my poor sick baby. I cried all the way to work bc I feel like I'm a bad mom for leaving him during his first cold. I know he's fine, DH is awesome with him. I also talked to the dr, and I know what we're supposed to watch for, I'm just sad that I can't be with him today.

Aww, it's ok Mommy!  I had to do the same thing...my mom and sister keep Ian while I'm at work, and I felt like such a POS because I wasn't the one taking care of him.  Is he "snotty" too, or just coughing?  I tell you what worked wonders for us, the saline nose spray.  Ian hated it when I'd do it to him, but it was almost an instant relief.  He was coughing because of drainage and the saline helped "wash" that out.  It was temporary of course, but you can do it often, it's not habit forming.  Also, I ran the vaporizer at night and rubbed vics baby on his chest before putting his jammies on him.  He also slept propped on the boppy, which helped a lot.  Just thought I'd throw in the routine we went through while Ian was sick.  Hope  you all get better soon!

Thanks, we'll try the saline and Vicks tonight. We used the nose frida last night, and it did seem to help quite a bit.

Why feel like a bad mum?! You can't control when you get sick! Your babe will be okay. I promise. I bet his daddy is giving him tons of cuddles, and will tell you how he's doing. Hope you guys feel better soon.
