Thoughts on Porter?

DH and I are having the hardest time picking a boy name. We were reading down the ssa names list and saw that DD's name (Daphne) was #450 in 2011. #450 for boys names was Porter and DH was like, "Let's use that one!"

I can't decide if I like it or not. Thoughts?

Dont love it. And doesn't really go with Daphne, tbh. Daphne seems more classic to me while Porter seems trendy with the occupation names [Hunter, Archer, Carter etc ].

I don't love it but I think it's fine as a boy's first name. Think about it, keep it on the list and keep looking to make sure there isn't another name that grabs you....

It's not my style. I try to stay away from occupational names. I wouldn't side eye it though.

I don't like it.  It's a beer, a person who works on a train or as a doorman, or a last name.

Love it!! It tends to get mixed reviews on this board but I just love it. Goes terrible with my ln though.

I have no attachment to the name, just can't decide if I like it or not. DH doesn't have many opinions on baby names this time around so I figured I should give this one some thought. Naming a boy baby has turned out to be a huge issue for us!

Porter has been growing on me. I like that it isn't popular and I don't mind the last names as first names trend.

DH and I do really like Parker, though.

Not a big fan of Porter, but I was going to suggest Parker. DH & I like it, but a close friend of ours has a Parker.

Not the worst I've heard, but it is my mom & step-dad's last name and the name of a friends dog, so I wouldn't use it ;-)

Porter is a type of beer, that was my first thought...however, I don't think that's bad. It's not really my style, but it's a fine name. Go for it if you like it!

I can't stand Porter. It's my least favorite occupation name.

Porter was my maiden name, and we were throwing it around as a middle name. I think it's a fine name, but I always think of it as more of a last name than a first name.
