In New Orleans itself, Touro is the only option. If you're willing to go outside of New Orleans, Ochsner or East Jefferson are also well known for L&D.
Im having my first preganacy and twin girls , i worked at East Jefferson but a few of my friends who are nurses had there babies at Touro, they said they liked there doctors but i would have to say i love my ob/gyn Dr. Baur she is the best and very attentive, also she just had a baby of her own so she knows exactly what ur feeling and going thru, i also see a hig risk specialist and they work together so well in dealing with all the difficulties involved including catching a serious rip in my cervix very early and had me stitched up right away. I wish u luck on your search and ur preganacy and hope that my experiance is helpful.
I am having my baby at Touro! They are amazing. I have a wonderful OB, named Dr. Janet Ross. She see's you from beginning and through delivery. It has truly been amazing using them.
Well I've delivered twice at Touro, the first time (2/5/09) the experience was great! Which is why the 2nd time around I decided to return to Touro. BUT my second experience (1/26/12) was a hot mess! I got to the hospital late, within 20min of delivery. I never made it into a birthing room and after I delivered naturally I might add lol I was kinda forgoten about. lets just say they left me w/my baby...in an air conditioned room mind you, I wound up falling asleep, from sheer exaustion & his temp dropped so low it took about 6-8hrs to bring him to my room. I had family waiting to see him & every time I asked, they said oh, he's in the nursery getting his bath, next it was oh, he's still under the warmer.
My husband did go in the nursery b/c I was like, it's not suppose to take this long go see what's up.THEN they explained to me, he was staying in the nursery so long b/c of his temp. I started thinking if yall had taken him immediatly after delivery, like they normally do, wash them, clean him, weight him, & put him under the warmer then his temp would be normal!!! That was just the beginning, and it was all down hill from there. I had a friend deliver like 5mo after me & she delivered at Oshner & absolutely loved it! If your doc delivers there, that would be my suggestion...Touro has gone down a bit in the service dept.
