I nearly bit my toungue in half!

So, last night we had some family over for dinner. A couple people have traveled in for the long weekend, so I figured we should be together as much as possible.

Dh's Aunt will be becoming a grandmother for the first time this christmas.  Her DD is going to baby classes and apparently there is a grandmothers night.  MIL was incredulous wondering what they could possibly teach. Auntie explained it is more about learning to respect Mom's opinion and the "new" rules.  She told us that the director told her that they almost always have one of the moms-to-be break down because of an overbearing mom or MIL.  MIL looks aghast! She turns and she me outright if she is ever annoying! OOOOOOOOHHHHHHH!!!!!!! All I could do was stare at my plate and try to keep the massive smirk of my face. She asked again and I managed the semi-neutral, "Sometimes". Apparently she "always swore she would not be one of those MILs". Well, newsflash you are annoying! I can tell when you don't respect my parenting and you audibly scoff at the "new rules".

She stopped me before she left and again asked me to tell her when she is begin annoying.  OH, she doesn't know what a door she is asking to be opened.  I never could but if I did, I would probably be correcting every quarter hour in the beginning. 

Its funny how something can be so obvious to those around you, but the person in question can be so clueless,

I WISH I had that opportunity!  I like my MIL but she has issues with the "new rules" and makes me feel like I'm too crazy or overprotective,  What I would give.... smh....  And your last line is sooo true!

This is hilarious. If my MIL outright asked me that, I think I would be speechless. Annoying certainly isn't a strong enough word, lol.

It's so true! I love my MIL, but she is constantly hovering over Logan to make sure he won't hurt himself, and she is always wiping his hands and face because she can't stand them to be sticky or slobbery...
I don't think she would ever ask me if she's being annoying, but if she did I know she could handle the answer. She's not the type to be offended easily.
