Did your milk supply go down when your baby started solids?

My baby has no interest in solids right now except for puffs, yogurt melts and crunchies...  I have tried to make homemade butternut squash, peas, and avocados but he doesn't like them at all...  I'll try store bought next...

Just wondering if you breastfeed, did your supply go down when your baby started solids? My babe is so little I''m even considering a bottle of formula at night to chunken him up.

  • Solids did not effect my BM supply at all. AF coming back did. This is the only time I've noticed a difference and we've been doing some solids for almost 3 months.

  • My supplie didn't go down at all.  She chows down on the baby food that I make too, but she also nurses a ton :)

  • Because I pump so much during the work week I haven't noticed a drop at all.  I actually make about 6 ounces per day extra now that he has started solids as I am assuming he doesn't drink as much during the day.

  • I'm not sure why your supply would go down because of solids, unless you've started replacing bottles/nursing with the solids- which you shouldn't do. Food at this point is just for practice and a little added nutrition. BM and MultiVitamins is all you need to sustain your baby. Also agree with PP...Take notice of when your supply drops. Before I got AF, my supply was dropping at a particular time each month. Now I have AF and there is a noticeable difference.
