TTC after 35

Another question

Good morning!  I'm always here asking questions...some day I'll have some answers! :-)  So I was asking yesterday about possibly missing my +OPK due to not testing enough times during the day.  I'm thinking I would have had a positive on Sunday evening.  I'm fairly positive I ovulated yesterday (Tuesday) due to sore breasts, cramping, and cervical mucus.  This morning my temp rose .3 degrees, making it the highest temp of my cycle.  Would that lead me to believe that I ovulated yesterday?  Not sure if a rise in BBT means you ovulated the day before. I googled it, but thought I'd also ask you ladies.

Thanks for all of your help and advice.  It helps a lot!!

Re: Another question

  • In order to confirm the big "O" you will need to have 3 consecutive high temperatures.  I use fertility friend to chart - they automatically figure out my coverline & when they feel I "O".  It makes my life that much easier.

Granted, some cycles you may have an anovulatory cycle - where it looks like you "O" but really did not.

My cycle is confusing me this month.  Usually when I start my downward spiral, I don't go back up - well I did this morning, granted only .1 degree, but it is odd for me.  If I don't go back down tomorrow I may test..

  • Ok, good to know.  This is all new and confusing to me.  So on day 15 I was 96.8, day 16 was 97.0, day 17 was 97.1, and then today, day 18 was 97.4.  So since day 15 my temps have been on the rise.  Is that kind of what you mean?

  • kjmitlyng do you chart anywhere online? if you can share your chart that would be helpful for us to help you. What where your temps prior to day 15 were they lower?

I have attached a link to my chart, just to gve you an idea, although mine is far from an ideal example. I was also sick over the weekend so I am not sure about those spikes.

But for me it looks like my temps dip during O and then rise right after.....it also appears that my body tried 2-3x this month to O.

This!  FF takes a lot of the guess work out of it and has so much good information for free.  Looks like you may have ovulated but like Qzees said you usually want to see three days of higher temps to confirm.  If your temp stays up for two more days then you most likely ovulated yesterday.  Good luck and don't worry about asking too many questions - that's what we are here for.

Me 39 & suspected PCOS, DH 42. Went off BCP when we got married in 11/11, seriously TTC since 3/12.  Six cycles of clomid = BFNs.  Suspected endometriosis & HSG showed both tubes blocked.  Sept 2013 IVF 5D transfer of two perfect embryos = BFN.  Started acupuncture and taking time off to drop some pounds & get healthier before FET in April 2014.
  • Hi, yes - if they are on the rise, then you are most likely in what is called your "luteal" phase.  Your body is now producing progesterone & that causes your temps to rise slightly.

My chart might be more "typical" to look at.  See how I dipped down on day 15 & then shot up.  After it shot up - it stayed up for a while - about 8 days.  Usually right before your period starts, many women will experience a drop down in temps - could be slow like mine is showing or it could be fast.

I am still above my coverline - the red horizontal line - so I still have a chance this month, although I am not getting my hopes up.  The verticle red line shows when fertility friend feels I "O".  My period is due but I don't have any feelings like it is coming.  I won't get my hopes up again like I did last month.  Last month I even had an implantation dip - but nope, I crashed & burned.. LOL

  • Ladies, thank you!  You have all been so helpful.  I have a chart set up on fertility friend but maybe I'm using it wrong??  Do you have to pay to get the chart/graph to show up?  To answer someone's question, can't remember who it was, that prior to day 15 my temps were staying low, usually between 96.4 and 96.8.  Today it was 97.4, which has been my highest temp so far.  I'll be sure to track them the next couple of days and see if they stay up!  I'm pretty sure I ovulated yesterday, day 17 of my cycle.

If I don't get a BFP at least I'll be much more prepared next month for charting and OPK!  I didn't know this could all be so complicated!  Our bodies are so amazing!

  • I don't remember exactly how to do it, I am sure someone will chime in on how to get your chart up on your posts.  I believe when I was in FF I copied the url address (no clue where I got it from) & had to paste it somewhere on my account info on The Bump.  I like being able to see other ppls charts - it helps to compare.

Also on FF after you are charting a little while, you can do a chart overlay & compare them.  I did sign up & paid for the year - it was very inexpensive & it gave me more options to use on FF.
