We've eliminated it completely except at night and during naps, no more paci if she's not in her crib. I think we'll start that part soon... I'm worried about letting her get too used to it, because it seems like the longer she relies on it, the harder it will be to take it away. I don't think it's going to be easy though
We only use it at sleep time, but I'm not planning on ending that any time soon. I like that if she wakes she can use it to soothe herself. I haven't even thought about when we'll stop.
She seems to be breaking that habit on her own. She was only using it at night and for naps but now when we try to give it to her she just pushes it away.
We cut it out completely last weekend because he got thrush. Our pedi said that it would be hard to get the thrush out of the paci even putting it in boiling water and suggested we just get rid of it now. He wasn't sleeping well anyways so it was ok timing. We just went cold turkey the first two nights were horrible. I caved and gave him a brand new one and it just made him angrier like he was challenging himself to not take it although I am sure it just hurt his tongue because of the thrush he now sleeps better than he did with it. Not sure if his helps you at all.
