Substitute Pediatricians...

Title: Substitute Pediatricians...

They are f***ing batsh*t crazy. I swear, this lady was wishing chlamydia on me. Last week, I took DS in for what they were certain was a clogged tear duct. NBD, right? They decided to run some routine tests for infection, including chlamydia. She asked if I was treated in pregnancy for STDs and I said no. She then proceeds to mention it 8 more times in the appointment. My husband is IN THE ROOM with me, and she barely addressed the clogged duct, which is what the nurse was sure it was.

I then received another call saying the overall bacteria test was fine, but she then said chlamydia was still processing. Finally the chlamydia cleared and she sounded disappointed when I said that is what I expected. WTF? Needless to say I will be finding a different back up pediatrician. She was f***ing nuts.

  • Oh wow. I probably would've spazzed out on them. You're more patient than I am.

I'd find someone new, too. I don't understand why its,so hard to find a good Pedi.

  • Ugh.  Love my pedi, but he is in a huge practice.  We saw one of his partners and HATED her...and I never use that word.  Needless to say, if DS is sick and she's on, we're going to the ER instead!

  • Maybe she had a chlamydia itch she couldn't scratch in front of patients so she kept talking about it?

  • I'm not defending her because she was rude, but the reasoning behind all the chlamydia talk is because it's the most common infection of the eye that occurs in neonates. Because it can cause blindness they'd rather be safe than sorry. It's the reason behind the erythromicin eye ointment at birth. I took my lo to the pedi for a routine check and told them about a clogged duct - but because of the discharge in the eye they prescribed erythromyicin (but didn't say "we're worried it could be chlamydiae ".) She has no tact but most pediatricians will treat for possible chlamydia infection without telling you that's why they're giving the antibiotics.
