April mommy has a question about toys :)

Hello Ladies! I am popping over from the April board for some advice since you're LO's are just a few months older. Since D is nearing 6 months and getting more active/alert I am wanting to get her some really great toys. She is starting to get a little bored with rattles, her play mat, etc.. So what toys have you babies been loving the past few months? Thank you so much!!

DS loves to take things out of a basket.  We have a small basket and I'll put different toys in there and he will take them out, explore each one a little, and move on to the next.  I put them back in there and he does it again.  Hours of entertainment!  I change out what's in there from time to time to keep him interested.

He also is into anything he can bang on the (wood) floor and make a loud noise.  That may be a boy thing.

**Around 6 mos I was on the search for toys that encouraged him to sit up and play versus lying down--plan worked perfectly** 

**If you have a good local consignment shop check out their toys I got a lot of his stuff gently used for WAY cheaper than buying at Target**

Mine loves the V-tech move and crawl ball (I think that's the name).

Also as someone mentioned he loves taking things out of buckets or baskets.

We got a turtle toy with a removable shell and inside are 5 different shaped small pieces. The shell has holes that match the pieces. He hasn't got the part down about putting them in but he absolutely loves to pull the shell off and find the toys inside. This was a really inexpensive toy from Target I believe. He loves it!

Marky loves musical toys! Baby Einstein has some good ones, and Dancy Antsy is another great toy that plays songs and "giggles".

He also really enjoys banging on the empty jumbo size Goldfish crackers carton. I highly recommend getting one of those, because they are tastey & cheap! So, everyone is happy!

Isn't it so much fun once they start playing??!

Here are a few that my LO loves:

-- Skip Hop Activity Owl  

-- A plastic spoon -- seriously, one of her favorite things!

-- Baby links -- there are some that have a rubber-y part, or different textures, those are the best

-- Infantino Cell Phone Toy

-- The TV remote, a flashlight, etc.

Paul loves/loved those stacking cups that you can get for really cheap. He also loves balls of any kind, but at that age he liked that o-ball because it was easy to grab. He also enjoys any of those Eric Carle toys from BRU.

Someone else mentioned the Vtech Sit and Move ball (or whatever it's called). DD loved that one! We also have the singing flowers from lamaze, the Vtech baby's first laptop, and the vtech zoo. These were probably her 4 favorite toys up until recently, when she learned to stand and likes any toy she can push herself up on now!

We bought the Vtech crawl ball, poppity pop dino and a fischer price musical walker- she loves them all. her favorite things are some blocks that somene gave us. We stack them- she knocks them down, some wooden spoons and spatula's and plastic measuring cups. Also popular are an old plastic butter container. We put little things in and shake them or let her pull little toys out of it. She likes to watch us throw balls up in the air. She likes playing with her hairbrush. A wire maze was a big hit as well.

Oh my Emily has soo many toys.

We have 3 baskets full that we switch out throughout the day. She goes threw one taking each toy out and playing with it...then she gets bored and I pick up all those toys and bring out another.

Her favorites right now

-maracas, seriously loves to shake and beat them on things

- cups, spoons, measuring cups

- anything with wheels that she can push

- balls....she loves all things balls. (especially the ball poper that shoots balls out the top)

- blocks

oh and her sit to stand play station (btw once we put the legs on to go to "stand" they dont come back off to go back to sit, so now it is just stand play station and she stands for a few minutes and plays then reaches for a toy and falls)

It is the only toy that I have ever heard her laugh at ( her laughter is generally when we are making faces or sounds at her).
