1st Trimester

First baby ever

I took a pregnancy test a couple days ago, and it turned up positive. I'm SUPER EXCITED, but also super nervous. One thing that's really getting to me is the nausea, I've only vomited once, but other than this it's just been intense nausea, does anyone have any advice as to what I could do to bring down the intensity? Sometimes it's so bad I feel like I have the flu :( any advice would be sooooo greatly appreciated.I'm also about 7 weeks along.

Thank youu :)

  • The nausea hasn't hit me yet this time but hard candy did wonders for my nausea last time. They actually make lozenges I think bnatals is the name for morning sickness. I found any hard candy did the trick though.

  • Okay, thank you, it seems like they will be my best friends for a while. I'm gonna make my fiance go out and get me some :)

  • congrats!! I was really nauseous through my first tri... I kept Matzoh with me at all times and found that soda water helped too. I ate english muffins & rice to settle my stomach which seemed to help... but mostly I just said to myself, this is all worth it :)

  • When I was in my first tri, I found that keeping something in my stomach at all times helped a lot.  I quickly tired of crackers, but I usually kept cereal in my purse and snacked on that throughout the day.  Granola bars helped some as well. Ginger ale helps, but it should be actually made with ginger to be effective.  I also was drinking a cup of chocolate milk every night before bed and later read that drinking milk at night was supposed to help.  My MS was pretty mild except for when I had a cold.

I get really bad if I don't eat, always keep something on you to snack on.

  • First Babies ever! Just found out identical twins! Is it abnormal to already have a bump?

  • As most ladies have said, make sure you eat something. I had a friend who had it really bad. The only thing that seemed to help her was eating the candy Lemon Heads. She carried them everywhere and said it helped. Might be worth a try! Good Luck!

  • I've been using chewy ginger candies.  When I'm feeling nauseous, I suck on them and it helps a lot.

  • Congrats on your BFP!

My Dr said she could give me some Diclectin if I ever got bad m/s. Luckily I don't. I do feel queasy most of the day, but PPs are right: it gets much worse if I let myself go hungry. Saltine crackers are my best friend right now!

  • Like most people said, never let yourself get hungry. I always found mine was at its worst first thing in the morning. I got up and went straight to the kitchen to eat. Jolly Ranchers were also a lifesaver for me. I ended up taking Phenergren though because it got so bad I was missing school. It helped a lot, but it also knocked me out.

  • I agree with all the above suggestions! I am also taking B6 (25mg twice a day) and eating a lot of Ginger (ginger chewable tablets, candied ginger, ginger snaps). My husband just bought me SeaBands and I have had them on for about 30 minutes and they seem to be helping. Though I think they look a bit silly...lol

Congrats and hope you find something that works!

  • Thank you everyone, ever since I kept crackers with me it seemed to have helped so much, all I keep thinking about is my little baby and knowing it will get better, Crackers and Water are my best friends right now, but I will give everything a try, I never thought of jolly ranchers or lemon heads, I didn't think of candy at all, but thank you everyone!
