TTC After a Loss

Intro & a question

Hi ladies -

DH and I have been ttc since last November. After dealing with long, anovulatory cycles since then, I got my bfp after our first round of clomid and we were so excited. My first beta was 18. But it did reveal low progesterone so I was put on 200mg 2x/day. Three days later when I went back, my beta was 6. :( I am heart broken about this and still dealing with the grief.

My question is when I should expect AF. I'm honestly just wanting her to hurry up. I stopped the progesterone on Friday (when I got the call). We can start trying again next cycle so of course I'm ready to try for my sticky baby. Any info you ladies can give would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Intro & a question

  • I'm so sorry for your loss. Welome to the board.
Everyone is different concerning AF, so I really have no answer for you. It seems that it's even more wonky if you had irregular cycles before. GL and hope she shows soon!

  • I'm so sorry for your loss.  Welcome to the board.

Everyone's first AF after their m/c is different.  It may be same as pre-loss, it may be vastly different.  But, if it takes more than 60 days, contact your doctor.

  • I'm sorry for your loss and Welcome to the board. The ladies here are very supportive and the TTCAL Blog is very informative. As far as AF everyone is different, but after my first loss AF showed up 24 days later. My doctor informed me it could take up to 6-8 weeks after a m/c for AF to begin. I hope AF shows up soon. Hope your stay here is short and sweet.

  • I'm so sorry for your loss, and welcome to the board.

I am on the mobile site and can't see your siggy, so forgive me if I'm way off base here. I think pp are assuming you are talking about your first AF post loss, but I think you may be asking when you will start bleeding/when the miscarriage will begin. With a beta at 6 and having been off progesterone since Friday, my guess is it will be this week. It could be any day now. If you charted before, you could start charting again to look for that telling temp drop.

    ~*~*~*~Everyone Welcome~*~*~*~
  • Welcome to the board, and I'm so sorry for your loss. You've been given great advice from everyone, so I just wanted to say welcome and offer HUGS.
  • Oh Sarah, I am so sorry you're here.

AF can take anywhere from 3 weeks after m/c to several weeks. I was told (IIRC) that it averages about 45 days and if I got to 60 days without AF to call the RE for Provera.

Be kind to yourself. And don't for a second think that you have to be "over" your grief right now or even any time soon. It will get easier, but the milestones will still hit you like a ton of bricks, and that's ok.  Huge, huge hugs.
