So we had our anatomy scan on Wednesday. The baby looked amazing! Bebopping all over in there and bringing his/her hands up together near his/her face. SO precious! (yes, we're staying Team Green). The only thing that came up was my "low lying placenta". They said it was an incidental finding and that in MOST cases that it moves up and away from the cervix...otherwise, a C-section will be necessary. I'm praying that we don't end up in Placentapreviaville at delivery (of course healthy baby and mom trump all). They also told me to watch for bleeding. Eeeek! I'm staying positive and am also wondering if any STM have had this and how it went for them? Thanks in advance!
I went in for my 16 week appoointment, and they told me I had had partial placenta previa. I went to the peri for the second part of my NT Scan, and its their policy to do another scan to check on things, well it had already moved to low lying. She said it was not 2cm from my cervix and seemed to migrating upward quickly. So obviously it can happen fast! I read 90% migrate out of the way, so try not to worry.
Did they put you on pelvic rest or anything? They did with me when it was partial previa. I'm just waiting for my AS to see what happens.
Thank you for sharing melaniedel. That helps to ease my mind some. They have not put me on pelvic rest but said that if I have bleeding that they will. I am paranoid about having sex now since we haven't in almost a few months ( I have been feeling so horrible from morning sickness (all day sickness) that we haven't). Now I'm afraid to even attempt it in the fear that I haven't bled because we've abstained. Ugh Thanks again for sharing!!
With #1, I had low lying placenta at my 20 wk ultrasound, and was told the same thing, my OB said 9 times out of 10 it moves, I had to go in at 28 weeks for another ultrasound to check and it had moved FAR away from my cervix! So I was in the clear! I never had a drop of spotting even with the low lying placenta! Hope yours is the same way and moves away!
NP. I completely understand. I'm not chancing it (pelvic rest)until I see if it has moved more at my 20 week. I usually run/walk 3 miles a day and haven't for a week (since they diagnosed me, with PPP Saturday. By Wednesday it had already changed to LLP) so I'm nervous about running, although my doc said it was okay. I think since my doc is okay with it, I will go back, but take it easy...maybe power walk or something.
The tech did tell me that sex should be okay since it's not up against the cervix or covering anymore (I didn't confirm this w/my dr yet). Mine was 2 cm away though, and yours may be closer or further. I would abstain if you have a follow up US soon (if you're really worried), otherwise your doc says its fine so don't worry too much. It may be a far enough to not concern them.
