I use the clairol nice and easy brand. One time I got it colored at the salon I get it cut at (which is a great place) and it really didn't look that different from when I do it myself.
Ive also used the John frida foaming color which is great if you find a color you like, but they don't have a huge selection. It's a little more expensive than the nice and easy. I don't recommend the nice and easy foam, it fades really fast
Yes I do- I have since I was 14 (sad to say 24 years)- same brand every time. Loreal Performing Preferance. I have had no issues with it- but I have always used the same shade too.
Permanent. I told my stylist I wanted to start doing it myself so she told me the number dye to get and the number conditioner and taught me how to do it like the salon.
When I'm in a hurry though I just grab nice n easy. It works great

I've done my own since high school!! I use nice n easy usually. It's cheap, there's almost always a coupon, and it works in 5 minutes!! If you're nervous, why don't you try a semi permanent one first? It washes out in a month, and no roots since it all washes out! I'm actually moving toward this kind myself... then when I get lazy I don't have to worry about my roots and greys!
I use LOreal permanent color about every 6-8 weeks. I dye my hair the color it really is though, and just use it to cover my grays. I would say I'm probably about 20% gray right now
But, cest la vie...it does make it nice and shiny.

This is pretty much what I am look g to do. I've always had it colored a shade darker than my actual color and mostly to hide the grey.
Thanks everyone.... Cross your fingers I'm capable of doing this! I don't want green hair :
Re: Do you color your own hair?
Heck no! Ha ha ha ha ha.
Last time I colored my own hair in high school it turned green. Oh, no no.
My coffee just came out through my nose .. Thanks for the laugh!
Still going to try it though!
You are a brave lady!
