MoMs I need your advise. My back has now started to absolutely kill me. I cannot sit in any position for more than a few minutes, it frequently spasms, and sleeping even with my maternity pillow is becoming very painful and waking me up several times a night. Last night was so bad it flared my nausea up and I was up from 2am to 5am throwing up from pain dealing with back spasms.
I have tried warm baths before bed (these used to be my golden ticket). I assume the back pain is due to rapid growth (up to 23lb weight gain) as I am measuring several weeks ahead. I am more concerned about finding relief now as I know later it will get harder. Tylanol seems to give me some relief and makes it dull and more bearable. I have also been taking unisom at night just to sleep but I don't want to take it every night.
I am carrying both babies very low so I feel like my lower abdomen just keeps going further out and never up. I also think this is one reason I am having back issues.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

When M was having pain she sat in a POOL as it relieved some of the pressure. she also found doing the YOGA ANGRY cat pose to be very enjoyable and tension pressure relieving.

I would love to see a chiropractor. I have never done so before so I am unsure about the process. I guess I just need to call around and see if my insurance will cover and if not what is my cost. Plus I am not going to lie it scares me a little bit.
I do get regular prenatal massages but those are starting to seem so superficial. My pelvis is starting to widen and I get some nice flaming pains in my groin but a warm bath or siting cross legged will generally relieve that right now.

I think I'd be scared of chiropractors too. I know some people swear by them, but the few times I've been (when not pregnant) it was a pretty jarring experience. I'd be afraid they'd make your pain worse.
The one thing that did actually work miracles for me was acupuncture. I know it sounds freaky. But it actually doesn't really hurt at all, and it made an huge difference for my back pain. When I was pregnant with DD it got so bad that I couldn't even bend over to put something in the trash. Acupuncture took that away after the first visit. Often times insurance will cover it too.
My pain was from sciatica (usually shows up in lower back). The pregnancy can put pressure on your sciatic nerve. Unfortunately it's just anatomy, so no amount of stretching, baths or anything can change it. But for some reason acupuncture works.
Also, talk to your doc. Ambien is considered safe to take during pregnancy and might be better than Unisom.
I hope you find relief soon!
Thank you so much! I have an appointment next week so I will definitely ask about the ambien. I know it cannot be good that I am not sleeping.
I may look into the acupuncture. It sounds way less payless than someone torquing my body... I think you are right about the nerve issue especially since it is coupled with spasms.
Thanks to everyone!!!
