And to answer OP's question...I have no idea how she could do something like that. There are so many options out there-maybe she didn't have a good support system, or some one to talk to about what to do when the baby got here, but there are SO many families that desperately want babies and can't have them. There is always adoption. It makes me sad for this baby and sad for this young girl; I am sure this will haunt her everyday for the rest of her life.

I feel bad for her as well, though many people may disagree. A 14 year old is not equipped to deal with a pregnancy and delivery, emotionally or mentally. Teenagers LITERALLY do not have the capacity to see the far reaching effects of their actions. It's actually lacking in their brain, and I could easily see even some of my best students doing something like this in a moment of pure insanity.
I wish she had told somebody about her pregnancy before it came to that
This makes me so sad, for the baby but especially for the young girl. SHe must have done it just out of sheer desperation.. who knows what her family situation was like? It must have been so severe that she didn't feel comfortable revealing her pregnancy. Imagine how desperate she must have been to go through birth alone in a bathroom and then to kill and keep her dead baby in her room.
Why do they have to make it smell so good if you can't eat it??
This is so sad and scary. I agree with jilly, this girl is a child herself and just not capable of processing the situation. Without a support system, if she was afraid to tell an adult I could see how this could happen. That's why there are safe spots to leave your baby like hospitals and fire stations, but she's not even old enough to drive there. she was probably thinking that she really had no way of giving up her baby without her family finding out. I cant even imagine how horrifying her birth experience must have been. I hope she finds the mental help she needs.
I honestly place A LOT of the blame on the parents here. How do you not realize that your 100lb 14year old is pregnant? Plus I think it brings in lack of parenting if your 14 year old is even having sex in the first place. I think denial is a huge issue here and I feel badly for the young girl and the baby.
ETA: I say this out of experience with a family friend. The mother suspected that her daughter was pregnant and never said anything because she didn't want to believe it. Of course family service got involved after birth because no prenatal care was given at all.
you know what's funny (not funny haha)? I think that before I became a mother myself, I would have said "That girl deserves to be put in jail or get the death penalty!" But now that I AM a mom, I feel more sympathy for her. I just feel like if Alexander made a horrible choice like that, I would still love him. I would have to believe that he must have felt so lost to do something like that. I have to hope that I would be raising him in a household that promises to accept him no matter what so he wouldn't have to feel scared to talk to me and go through anything alone though.

This. I feel sorry for her. I think the fact that she bathed the baby before essentially burrying it points to someone who did care, but felt she had no choice. She is a child herself still and it's terrible that there was no one there to support her. I can't imagine that a 100 lb girl carrying a 9 lb baby wasn't noticed by family and teachers. Shame on the adults in her life. Hopefully, someone will step in now, but doubtful. She obviously needs a better support system at home and some counseling. There is no way this child won't be traumatized forever by her choice.
Edit: I'm also a little horrified they posted this child's picture and name with the story. I thought if a minor was arrested for something, they didn't publish the child's name/picture? Like she doesn't have enough issues without a mob coming after her!
