I am trying to move them to solids and realized tonight that I don't know what I am doing. They have been on rice for 2 weeks and we are moving towards solids. I don't know how much and when!
morning - oatmeal with either a banana mashed up or pears.
afternoon- veggie mixed with a little oatmeal ( most of the time sweet potatoes or butternut squash)
evening- 2 veggie plus a little bit of oatmeal with fruit...since doing this they are sleeping SO MUCH BETTER! and if I do a banana they do even better with sleep.
I make all the food at home and spend about an hour every two weeks making food that costs about 1/40 of buying the jarred stuff and it is all organic. I make it, pour into ice cube trays, freeze and then keep it in ziplock baggies and zap it in the microwave when i need it.
gl and I have found heating it up a bit helps them enjoy it a bit more and my boys HATED the rice cereal but love the oatmeal as long as it was mixed with other stuff.
Re: What should a 6 month olds feeding schedule be?
We feed them solids once a day. I've heard you should move to 2 meals at 7 months and 3 meals by 9 months.
If we feed them in the morning, I usually do rice or oatmeal with a fruit (one baby jar for both of them).
If we feed them in the afternoon, which happens more often, we do a fruit and veggie (one fruit and one veggie jar / serving for the both of them).
One thing that's important is to try a new food for 3 - 5 days straight to ensure they don't have allergic reactions to them.
Good luck!
Baby #3 due September 12, 2014!
