Little Things That Make You Happy

Yesterday I stopped into Target to get a few grocery items and of course I swung by the baby section. They had some super cute clothes on clearance for 30% off and more! I bought 4 things for 12 bucks! Then as I was about to check out, there was a seasonal endcap with the "spooky monster cereals" and I grabbed two boxes of Count Chocula - I've had a major sugar jones for the stuff and couldn't wait for it to come out! I swear was the happiest woman in Target!

So just thought I'd share! Anyone else have little things that make them happy?

I've noticed since becoming a SAHM (in 2010) I get giddy about silly things I never did before, like when a new vacuum comes out or the pink swifter, lol. I also stop by the baby section everytime I go to the store and I always get excited about the new clothes they get or other stuff. I was in there the other day and they have so many more choices I didn't have with my son. For instance I wanted to do disney cars for his nursery. I couldn't find anything. I ended up buying a toddler bedding set and a blue bumper (bumpers were not being recalled at that time) and ordered a handmade cars mobile from etsy. Now they have the whole set- arggg. lol. But the good news is he is still sleeping on his toddler bedding in his big boy room :)

My little things generally have to do with my school work. As in I finished some data analysis and it felt great to get a big step of my thesis work done.

It also makes me happy to feel the baby.

I am SO lazy when it comes to housework, but when my floor is freshly vacuumed it makes me SOO happy! It's so nice to be able to accidentally drop a blanket or something on the floor and not freak that I got dog hair all over it!!

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?...But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:26-27&33-34

My happy moment so far today was opening Pandora on my phone when I got into the car to go to work and having "Summerbaby" by Polaris immediately start playing.  Because one of my favorite bands of all time is a fictional group from a 90's kids' series on Nickelodeon.  ;-)

Lol. You know you're getting old when... I was giddy for days when we got new screens put on the windows.

I've never been a soda drinker, but hide the Dr. Pepper! I wake up in the morning and I can smell it and taste it and have been craving it for weeks. Mmmm. I have to tell my husband, no matter how much I whine and beg, DO NOT buy any Dr. Pepper. Otherwise all my teeth will have rotted away by the end of this pregnancy. So when I do splurge, I'm on cloud 9.

My little spot of happy lately has been the ability to once again drink a small amount of coffee.

I had to give it up at about 6 weeks since it would make me sooooo sick. I would try a few sips of DF's here and there and still just feel icky. Then a week or so ago I was actually able to tolerate drinking it. I'm drinking a small cup right now and loving every sip  :-)

My DH will be ridiculously excited that "Boo Berry" cereal is available now. It's his all time favorite and only available during Halloween.

A little thing that makes me happy? It being Friday...PERIOD.

    Happy for me:

Tomatoes are ripe in my little amateur garden

When the kitties cuddle with me instead of DH (which has been happening more often since I've been pregnant)

When I get over writer's block

When the autumn breeze filters gently through my widow as I lay in limbo between sleep and waking

When I'm doing puzzles and I finish a particularly hard one

Fellow higher-ed person here.  I'm with you!  Just finished another job application cover letter, and I'm in that "I'm done!" high :)  Non-work related little things that make me happy are:  cereal and milk, a clean house (complete with clean sheets/towels!), and Netflix streaming TV shows :)
