HR comment on my u/s pic

I had someone on FB comment on my picture of my u/s yesterday and asking what the baby's HR was b/c if it was 156 or lower it would be a boy and if it's 160 or higher it would be a girl. She even claims that her doctor told her this and her doctor said the ratio is 99.9% accurate. I really want to comment back to her and say, well my baby's HR falls between the 2, what does that make my baby??

 I always thought it was only an old wives tale and that it was >150=boy <150=girl. DH commented back that he guesses we know a lot of that .01% b/c we know a lot of people that have high HR's that have boys and low HR's and they have girls.

I agree with.. my family goes by greater than 150 a girl - i have been that the enitre time - still at 154 on Monday. We r team green though, so not sure how accurate it is.

I have heard over/under 140, over/under 150, and over/under 160 being a girl/boy. My LO's hb has been over 160 very consistently and is a boy, so basically it's all guesses that mean nothing anyways.

I wish I could find the study someone posted while I was pregnant with DD. The heart rate sex prediction is a myth. Here are a couple of articles on the topic. The second one I wouldn't use in itself since there were only 20 women in the study, but it does reference 3 studies that looked into fetal heart rate and sex and found no link.

Well I'm having a little boy and in the beginning his HR was in the high 170s and now it ranges from 150-160. I would call it just an OWT.

I heard the same wives tale and before I found out the gender, my lil man's HR has always been over 150...more in the 155-160 range....so yeah a wives tale it is...

Old wives tale! I am having a girl and her HR was 137 at the u/s and is consistently in the low 140s - to mid 130s.  I was thinking boy because of that wive's tale but the ultrasound definitely showed a little girl :-)

Yep, mine too. Ours has always been around 160, even at 20 weeks when we found out he is a boy.

I'm having a girl and at my 16wk appt her HB was 144 and yesterday at my A/S it was 150...I wouldn't worry too much.

Complete myth! I'm having b/g twins and my son's heartbeat has been higher than my daughter's the entire time. Today he was 163 and she was 152.
