We are team green again and sticking with the same girl's name that we had picked out for LO1. But I'm having second thoughts on the middle name. I mentioned it to DH, and I think he's still in the "it's what we would have done if DS was a girl, so why change it?" mindset.
allison iola... iola was my great-grandma's middle name. She passed away when I was a senior in college, so she was part of my life and DH knew her as well.
I am leaning towards changing it to Allison Mae. Mae is my mom's mn.
When I brought it up to DH, I realized that I like the idea of iola a lot, but not sure how I actually like the name... I feel that Mae flows better. Thoughts?

My Grandma's name is Iola which we were going to try and fit in as a middle name. It is really hard to fit with anything it seems like! I like Allison Mae more than Allison Iola
This
Her FN was Beatrice (went by Bea) and we just didn't really like that as a MN or FN for a DD. Her maiden name was Sather... maybe could work as a boy's MN?? Hadn't thought of that...
There's almost a benefit to picking a name, not using it, and playing with it in your mind for a few years!
Thanks for everyone's input
I would go with Mae or Beatrice. Interestingly, my DH's grandmother (who died the year after we were married) was named Iona Mae. We wanted to honor her with our DD's name, but we would not have used Iona, so we used Mae and DD #1 is Madeleine Mae.
I think it's great to use family names but not at the expense of using a name you don't care for. FIL passed away last year and his name was Donald... if it was something remotely ok to us, we would have used it in our boy name (we are team green) but we are not going to use it because we just don't like it.
I think Allison Mae flows better, but I understand wanting to use your GG's name.
Good luck!
