A friend of mine told me she received 18 weeks maternity leave. 6 weeks paid by her company, 6 weeks FMLA and 6 weeks baby-bonding. When I try to look this up, it seems like FMLA and baby-bonding are one and the same. She stated that baby-bonding was separate and was fairly new to NJ. Has anyone heard of this??
Re: XP: NJ Maternity Leave
FMLA doesn't pay you for maternity leave it's what protects your job so you have one to go back to. You get 6 weeks partial pay for a vaginal birth and 8 weeks partial pay for a cesarean birth through STD {your company if it is offered or with the state}, then NJ offers child bonding time for 6 weeks of partial pay. You can get a maximum of 14 weeks paid by the state depending on how you deliver.
The state of NJ also will pay you to be our for 4 weeks before your due date with partial pay as well, but it is subtracted from your 24 total weeks of FMLA.
