s/o Strollers

How often do you use your stroller? More often when they were super tiny? More often when they were a little older?

We have a travel system stroller which I like fine, but we probably only used it a dozen times or so, and most of those were just walks around the neighborhood. DH just put it in the attic this weekend. We also have an umbrella stroller that we still have out, but we probably only use it once or twice a month, if that.

Re: s/o Strollers

  • We use ours pretty regularly but we are starting to use the single one more since Ava has been wanting to walk on her own lately.

  • We still use ours for any kind of big excursion - airport, zoo, Dutch Wonderland, etc. We probably end up using it more as a containment device and/or cart for our crap, but it works.  We don't use for walks or trips to the mall, etc. DD walks for that and if needed, one of us will carry her, but that's rare.  I was never a fan of our umbrella stroller - its a weird height for me, so its awkward and DD can't really bring a book or a cup w/ her in it and there's very little storage.

This, pretty much exactly.  DS is obsessed with pushing it himself though - similar to anything with wheels these days - so we definitely think twice before we bring it with us.  If we can do without it, it's sometimes easier for him to walk/to carry him than deal with trying to coerce him out of wanting to push it around the store - which, since he can't see over the top, often leads to hitting unsuspecting people and store displays.

  • We use our running stroller daily for runs/dog walks.  I'd also take this to someplace like the zoo (note future tense).  The travel system one gets used in places like the mall where I want to avoid carrying her the whole time if I can manage.  It's obviously easier to maneuver in stores than the jogger.  We don't own an umbrella stroller, but we used one when visiting my parents when we went to a museum and she wanted nothing to do with it.  I ended up carrying her the whole time.  Tongue Tied

  • Rarely.  We don't have a travel system, I've never liked them.  But we do have a snap n'go, which we've actually been using more now that we realized that we could put stuff in the bottom, so we wouldn't have to carry everything from the farmers' market.  So we use it once a week.

We also have an umbrella stroller.  We use it on big excursions, like we went to Longwood Gardens and we used it, the girls alternated in it.  We actually took it to the beach for a week and never used it.

So really, once watermelon goes out of season (so now), we probably will only use any stroller once a month, maybe.

  • We use the jogging stroller a good bit right now-maybe 2 or 3 times a week-for outdoor stuff (walks around the neighborhood, renn fest, park etc). For stuff like the mall we just use the umbrella stroller (maybe twice a month or so). This is all for B. S wanted nothing to do with strollers once he hit about 2.

  • We have a Jeep jogger that we use for walks around the neighborhood - and we'll bring it to places where we know we will need the "all terrain" type. But, we keep the umbrella stroller in the car all the time since thats our normal stroller for when we go out (dinner, excursions, etc.)

  • I wear Bailey a lot more than put her in the stroller...she doesn't really like the stroller. But yet, now I sit here torn as to whether or not we should get a double stroller. It seems like there will be situations I'll need it but the ones that seem to be great double strollers are $400+. I highly doubt DH will let me spend that.

double strollers are an awesome consignment buy - or even better, find a friend who doesn't need theirs anymore.

Yeah, I wonder about that whenever the time comes. It seems like it would be a waste for us given how little we use the stroller.

  • We use our wagon more then stroller, but occasionally Kieran will ask for the stroller instead of the wagon when we go on evening walks.  Also like others we use our stroller when we go places where we want to put our crap ie. Busch Gardens.

We have a travel system stroller and a BOB jogger.  When he was younger I wore him a lot in the Ergo or Moby.  I haven't worn him in awhile, although I'm sure he'd love it since he still likes to be carried and he's on the small side.

This. I love ours, it's a side by side double, and we got it for only $50 from a friend of a friend. It is the cutest thing when they both sit it in and hold hands. It has two really big baskets which is a double plus.

  • Claire is in hers pretty regularly, especially if I'm out with both kids.  She doesn't walk yet, so that's part of it.  We have an umbrella for everyday trips and I use the jogger when I run.

Aiden pretty much used the stroller till Claire was born.  When he was older (just shy of 3) it was backup for when he was tired since I was unable to carry him.

  • We have several strollers (actually four, but we only use two mostly.) I have a double side by side stroller that was given to me that's way to small for C and A. I also have the Joovy sit and stand that we use a lot when we are out at the mall, Zoo, walking the neighborhood and out of state (we used it at the airport). A still likes to ride in the stroller and sit and stand is perfect for her. I use the travel system stroller just for C, and I like that because I can lay her down and change her or let her sleep, we use that here and there, like this weekend when we knew that A would be doing other activities. We also have an umbrella stroller but we hardly use, my aunt actually has it in her car, when she was watching A. C is not sitting up yet, so she can't use it for her.

I used the travel stroller a lot with A when she was smaller, but when C came along we got the sit and stand after A demand that her legs did not work anymore. Wink

I got the Joovy for only $134 (one of the main reason I got it was because of the price) it also helped that A was over 2 as well. I also wear C a lot more then I did A.
