scared of the dark?

Last night Q woke up over and over and over again. I watched on his monitor as he'd squirm around and then sit up and scream. Then he'd look all over the room and grope around his crib for his bunny.

I went in three times and turned on his projector, and each time he immediately laid down and went back to sleep, until it went off and he woke up again.

Is he old enough to be scared of the dark? Does it sound like this could be the issue? Rec a good nightlight? I am freaking tired today!

Re: scared of the dark?

  • Yes, darkness fears can start now.  J had a lot of trouble the night his light blew out.  We just have a standard nightlight plugged in on the opposite wall of his crib, and his diaper genie is in front of it.  So it's enough for a little bit of illumination, but not so bright it would keep him awake.

  • Cody has a standard night light in his room.  I stopped using his projector because it seemed that shortly after it turned off he woke up.  I figured it was because of the change in lighting in the room.  I also leave our hall light dimmed and his door open a little.

We have this and the projector stays on all night. Most of the light is concentrated on the ceiling so it's not too bright.

We also have a regular plug in night light from the Dollar Tree and the light is blue so it's not too bright.
