Double ear infection. I'm just glad we can get it taken care of and move on.
After examining her, the dr asked if she was a preemie, and I said no. She said her head shape is unusual, to which I responded that she had worn a helmet and was all done with that and supposedly a lot better. Now I am all worried that she still looks weird.
I also asked her opinion on the asymmetry of A's top gum and teeth (this is a large pedi practice, so I've never seen this one before). She said I should take A to the cranial-facial clinic at Children's and do I want a referral. I asked if it is likely they would want to do something ASAP, and she said no. I told her I'd like to wait then until spring when I am on maternity leave and have a lot more time to make multiple trips down there (an hour away). Is that bad of me? Should I get her in soon?
Also, I really thought A was pushing 27lbs by now, but she's only 24.2! She's only gained one pound in 3 months, and her legs are still gigantic, so now I am worried she's not growing lengthwise. We won't get a length on her until her one year appt in two weeks.
Think I worry enough?
Re: Pedi Appt - UPDATE in reply
You are going to make yourself sick worrying so much! I hope her ear infections heal quickly and easily for you.
As for the clinic at Children's, why not go do a consultation? Let them decide if it's ok to wait for a few months, or if they consider it severe enough for immediate intervention.
FWIW, J is only 22 lbs, and nothing was said about that weight. He's only gained about 2 lbs in 3 months.
As for the scan at Children's I would see what the pedi you see in 2 weeks is. I think the sooner the better before the bones get any harder if they need to do anything.
"What did my fingers do before they held you? What did my heart do with it's love?"
This! I would just go for the consult now, because I would worry too. Kaiden has not gained ANY weight since nine months.
Dammit. I knew I shouldn't have said I'll wait. I just do not have days to burn anymore at school, so I sort of panicked. I think I will wait though for her appt on the 4th where I have more time to talk to the pedi that day, and see what he/she says. Dealing with Children's for A's head was sich a PITA, they would never do the CT scans the same day as an appt, so it was an additional trip down there for everything.
I am so completely overwhelmed these days. I was up at 5 doing school work, did that till A woke at 7:15, was with her until nap at 9:30, and am trying to do more work before she wakes again. I'm going to be at school tomorrow from 7am-10pm because of Open House which is good because I'll get work done, but I am sick too, so I am going to be a zombie on Friday. When I am in modes like this, and something new is presented, like going to Children's, I just freeze until I can process it. Ugh.
All of this. I'm sure she'd fine but it'd be hard for me to wait til Spring. I think you'll feel better if you do it sooner.
I hope she feels better and you get everything figured out soon. *hugs*
Update: I called the pedi's office and talked to the nurse about all of this. She called me back after talking with the pedi we've seen most often, who I trust. She said she really thinks we need to wait until A at least gets a few more top teeth before we do anything.
The phrase, "the women on my message board said I should take her in sooner," may or may not have come out of my mouth...
I know I vent here a lot ladies, and for that I apologize. I just don't have anyone IRL that I can really do that with, especially not DH. Thank you.
