And I have to let this out... I am so sorry to vent. But I finally got the go to start my IUI cycle, took my first dose of Femara last night and get an awful phone call this afternoon saying that my insurance will not cover the Menopur or Ovidrel. Since I have to pay almost $900 ($100 for Ovidrel, $79 per vial X 10 vials of Menopur), plus $1000 for the actual IUI itself, it looks like it just won't be financially possible to go through with it this cycle.
I feel stupid for not realizing that this was going to be this expensive and even stupider for not socking away more money for it. September is a bad money month for us (non-escrow summer taxes, tuition, low commission month, etc). I should have known - I'm a stupid, stupid girl. SMH. Since I travel heavily for work the months of October-January, I won't be able to try this again until February. Which by then, money will not be an issue what so ever. But cheese and rice! I am so sick of waiting...
But I'm not quite sure where to go from here, I already have the Femara, maybe I could just do that? Has anyone done this? I left a message with the RE's office so I'm sure I'll talk to them and figure out some option then, I'm just curious as to what you would do.
UPDATED 9/20
Get this Chicks!!!
So I called my RE and told her what was going on and she offered me some donated Bravelle for this cycle!! She said she would rather I not wait (prob due to my MS and low AMF/AFC). I feel so blessed and lucky just to even have the chance. Now that I don't have to pay for the meds, I can do the IUI. It's on!!!
I picked up the meds today and I'm all set to start the injects Saturday!
Thank you for all the warm thoughts ladies!! You all are the best!
Re: Super bummed...*AWESOME UPDATE*
I'm sorry! I'd see if you could just do Clomid and maybe the trigger shot.
Feb will be here before we know it! Hang in there
I am sorry about the news! That's terrible! Although, I feel your pain about the lack of insurance coverage and the financial cost needed to just pregnant...my insurance doesn't cover ANYTHING, they will cover anything to diagnose a problem but nothing under infertility. So, I feel your pain!
I would talk to your RE about this and see what he/she has to say! Our RE was very understanding and created a plan that would give my DH and I time to save for the procedures...I am grateful for that!
Best of luck to you!

Aw, that is a bummer! It seems like you are on the right track with talking to your RE about it. Hopefully you can come up with another option for this month that fits your finances.

Sorry you have to wait due to timing and finances. Trust me, as someone who's in her second year of having to take an 8 month break to afford it...I know it sucks.
I know a PP said that you should do femera or clomid with a trigger and timed intercourse...but I don't think they realized that that still needs U/S and B/W that can still run you $600 for the cycle. If you do not feel this is economically feasible, then wait until February. Like I said, I know it sucks. It sucks HARDCORE. But really it is just something some of us have to deal with.
